Fashion Fix: Monogram Me!

I got an embroidery machine for my 30th birthday and realized last week that aside from things for the house (like towels and such), I have never once monogrammed anything for myself.  No bags, no scarfs, no clothes, nothing.  Seriously?!?  It's been 4 years and not one single thing?!?  I've monogrammed my kids clothes and bags, made gifts, appliqued t-shirts, and monogrammed for other people, but have never taken time to do it for myself.  I don't even know how that is possible because I LOVE monograms.

A few weeks ago I saw a neighbor that had a pair of jeans monogrammed.  Yes, jeans.  Right there on the back pocket.  And it was the cutest thing I'd ever seen.  I knew at that very moment that I would be monogramming myself a pair ASAP so I stopped by Old Navy and picked up a pair for just over $20.  The Old Navy ones are great because there is nothing on the pockets and if I messed up it they weren't that expensive.  I didn't mess up though and I was just giddy over the finished product.  #fancypants

Then I remembered the post about my Fall Fashion Wish-List  and the monogrammed puffer vest.  I did my cream vest in a dark gray thread and immediately loved it a million times more than a regular vest.

Note- After looking at the vest now I wish I would have moved the monogram down just a bit, but I literally was getting dressed one morning and decided on a whim to do this quickly to wear that day.  I mistakenly rushed right through it and didn't even think very much about my placement.  Oh well!  I fixed it on my next vest. :-)

I did not wear both of these things on the same day (that might be monogram overload!!), but I did wear them both within a day or two of each other and I got so many complements on both.  Everyone wanted to know where they could get a monogrammed vest or pair of jeans of their own.

I started searching through my closet to see what else I could do and before I knew it I had a nice stack of things to start stitching on.  I ended up doing another pair of Old Navy jeans I happened to have, another puffer vest and a fleece. There are a few other things I haven't quite gotten to yet, but for now I'm very happy to be sporting my new monogrammed items and love how it can instantly turn something ordinary into something preppy.

I couldn't resist doing some jeans for my girls, too.  Because my hubby would never understand the importance of needing a good picture of our hineys with monograms on them, I set up my camera with the timer and ran in place to get this shot.

You're very welcome for that little bit of info. :-)  I'm sure my neighbors now think of me as the crazy lady who takes pictures of her backside.  All in the name of a good blog post, people.

Little Mama couldn't wait for me to wash hers so she could wear them to school last week and her teacher (who also has a love of all things monogrammed) said she might just have to do a pair for herself, too.  She's got plaid shirts done, some adorable boot socks that Little Mama told me about, and I'm trying to decide what will be next on my list for this fall.

Please leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite monogrammed items are and it doesn't have to be clothes!  I'm on a roll and I don't plan to stop any time soon!  :-)

And, speaking of all things monogrammed, don't forget to enter our giveaway for the monogrammed straw cup HERE.  There are still a few days left before we announce the winner!

    1. I wish I could claim being the trend starter, but before doing mine a quick google search showed tons of different ideas and people with monogrammed jeans. I never would have thought of it on my own, but just LOVE the way they look. :-)

    1. My machine is a Brother PE770. It's not one of the super industrial, multi-needle ones, but it does everything I need it to do so it has been perfect for me!
