Happy Friday!!! We are all so excited around here because it FINALLY feels like FALL!!!! The air is cool and crisp in the mornings and evenings and I'm able to go outside without sweating. That was my only wish!
We had been so busy that I hadn't even had time to get out my Halloween decorations yet, but since it feels like fall now I rushed to get everything out. I saw this the other day and laughed so hard. Funny because it's true.
I like to keep everything more pretty pumpkin than scary skeleton, but I don't know how much longer I'm going to be able to last without adding some spooky things because the kids are asking. We did have one new addition to the Halloween decor this year. Here's a funny story...
Our neighbors have older kids and always have fun inflatables in their yard for each holiday. Well we admired it from afar and never gave it another thought. Their kids have all grown up so they passed on their inflatable collection to us. I was hoping everyone would forget about them sitting in the corner of the garage, but not such luck. Last weekend we were in divide and conquer mode so I was gone with the girls most of the day and the Mr. had our son at his games. I talked to them on the phone a few times and every single time my little guy asked if I had been home yet. When I finally pulled into the driveway later that day I realized just why he was so excited for me to come home.
He asked me if I liked it and I said, "no." Haha! He had a friend coming over that evening and he told told me he didn't care because he knew his friend would love it!
I don't go crazy outside because we don't even trick-or-treat in our neighborhood, but I put out my DIY burlap pumpkins, add some fun Halloween pillows and tie coordinating ribbons around lanterns to tie it all together.
Inside I fill my dough bowls and trough with pumpkins, pine cones and other fall feeling fillers.
My letter board gets an update! I always put my kids in charge of this task and they have fun picking out what it will say each month.
The fireplace in our keeping room gets adorned with some fun orange and black decor...most of which came from the Dollar Spot at Target a few years ago. They always have the cutest holiday decorations so I like to grab a few new things each year.
My console table and antique wash stand in the entry way have touches of fall added, too.
When I was a kid I remember my mom putting out holiday specific candy for each holiday so I always do that in our home, too. That little dish of candy corn doesn't last too long with lots of hands digging in, but I let it slide and I'm just thankful I don't really like candy corn or I would be eating it all day, too!
I hope everyone has a great weekend and we'll see you back here next week.
