Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!!!  I'm always happy to see a Friday come around each week, but this one is kind of sad because it is our last Friday of the summer.  Our kids start back to school next week and although there is a small part of each of us that is ready, I would have happy if summer lasted at least a few more weeks. Sharing a quick Friday Favorites today and wishing everyone a great weekend!

We completed our second summer of all-star baseball and it was SO much fun! We love our team and some of those baseball moms have become some of my best friends.  I love, love, love watching my little guy play a sport he loves.

Some people think we are crazy to want to spend our entire summer at the ball fields, but it is really one of my very favorite things about summer!

My favorite pink cut-off shorts were restocked and they are on sale!!!  They are going fast, so if you didn't get to grab them last time, now is your chance!

shorts//tank//sandals

They are called high-waisted shorts, but they aren't at all and I got my regular size.  The fit is great and they are so comfortable!

My next favorites are these awesome snake skin platform sandals.  I had been looking at them online for a while and wasn't sure how the quality and comfort would be, but they far exceeded my expectations.  They are really well made and so comfortable.  I loved the snake skin print, but they come in a bunch of different prints and colors and are so affordable!

Speaking of favorite shoes, this week I took my oldest to do a little back to school shopping and she feel in love with these.  We were actually both going for them she grabbed a pair before I could!  I've passed my love of animal print on to her and I just wish we wore the same size.  These are actually the same brand and my sandals so I found them online, too! I give myself just about a week or two before I'll be twinning with her.  I tried them on and would recommend sizing up 1/2 size.

Cheetah Wedge Sneakers

Last fall I feel in love with these turquoise studs from James Avery and they immediately became my favorite small earrings to wear.  Somehow I lost one and was SO sad.

I had decided to order some more and noticed that they also come in Navy now!  James Avery was nice enough to send me both pairs and I've been wearing them all summer long.  I love all of their colorful pieces this summer and you can check them all out HERE.

I have a new favorite pair of workout shorts!  I had been searching for a plain black pair and absolutely LOVE these.  They have a thick elastic waistband that is soft and doesn't cut into your sides (such a must for me!).

They are a great length, have a really flattering tulip hem and the material is really lightweight.  I've been wearing them on repeat!  They come in several colors so I may end up ordering another pair!

Not So Basic Invites & Stationery

Some things are just better old school. Topping the list for us is invitations and stationery. In this day and age of the e-invitation and thank you note, we appreciate more and more the traditional monogrammed linen notecard that will occasionally grace our mailbox.

Don't get us wrong. We've been known to send an e-invite (er, dozens)  in our lifetime. Sometimes convenience just wins.

But our southern mothers and grandmothers trained us well. For every digital manufactured invite we put out into the world wide web, we've more than made up for in personalized stationery distribution.

And lest we desired our southern cards being revoked, we've never ever sent an e-invite to any major event. Weddings, showers, baby showers, birth announcements and first birthday parties all get their proper stationery homage.

And everything thing (and we do mean everything) requires a traditional handwritten note regardless of the occasion.

Receive a gift for your birthday? Send a thank you note.

A neighbor makes you soup when you are sick? Send a thank you note.

Had a important meeting or an interview? Send a thank you note.

Bob waved you through first at the 4-way stop when it was really his turn? Thank. You. Note.

You get the idea.

WHERE TO FIND CUSTOM INVITES & STATIONERY

We have a few places we like to utilize for our stationery needs, but one stands above the rest. We've found ourselves keep going back to Basic Invite again and again for any and all of our custom stationery needs.

We fell in love with Basic Invite last year, when we used them to design our business cards. We knew when we designed our custom business cards that they offered coordinating stationery pieces in the same design. We were just so impressed with the quality that we moved forward with customizing and ordering thank you note cards as well.

We've had several events that we've hosted over the last year that have featured Basic Invite products, and in that art of passing down tradition, we've ordered all over our children's stationery from them as well.

Even our little sports lovers were covered.

They just make the process so easy. With hundreds of designs available, the ability to customize with over 180+ color options, and over 40 different envelope colors available, it's hard not to find what you are looking for.

From business needs to personal use, Basic Invite really is a one-stop shop for all stationery needs.

A THANK YOU FOR YOU!

Fashion Fix: Willow Park Summer Style

It's no secret that we love our sweet friends at Willow Park Boutique.  We adore everything they have in their store and swoon over all the beautiful pieces every time we get a chance to visit.

While most stores are starting to stock up on Fall wardrobe pieces, we are still focusing on summer because it's still so hot here and will feel like summer until probably October!  They've got a ton of super cute game day options either in stock or coming soon so be sure to be on the lookout for those, too!

I tried on a bunch of dresses and loved them all!  First up was this really light-weight tiered dress with flutter sleeves.  It was SO comfortable to wear!  It comes in white and pink and I really can't decide which I loved more!

Next was this white maxi that I that was SO pretty.  I had actually seen a friend wearing this and loved it on her.  It is lined down to that band and that part between the trim is actually sheer!  It has a plunging back and the straps criss-cross.

I feel in love with this dress the second I put it on.  The cut of it is so flattering.  The ruffle hem is darling and the way it comes up a little higher in the front really elongates the legs. I also loved these woven wedge sandals.  They are really comfortable and would match just about anything! This is a great option for wearing now and can totally work into fall, too if paired with some booties.

We're obsessed with feminine floral prints right now and adore this pretty blue tiered floral maxi.  I love the shape of it and the material moves really nice.  The top is smocked and you can wear a regular bra with it, so it makes it really easy to wear.

This floral midi is another pretty option.  The fabric is lightweight and it has pockets, which you know we love!  This is another one of those dresses that can be worn now, but also into fall if you just throw on a denim jacket over it and pair with some booties.

The last dress I tired on was this gorgeous white one!  This would be so pretty for brides or for sorority girls who need white for rush events.  The material has some stretch to it, so it's really comfortable to wear and the eyelet cutout designs on the neckline and hem add something fun to it.  These heels are made of the same woven material as the wedges above and just a great neutral shoe to have that will match anything!

I tried on just a few tops this time and the first was this pastel striped button up top.  The fabric was really light-weight and the color so soft and pretty. I love it front tucked and also this this would be super cute with regular or white denim sorts!

This gorgeous green top is from Brooke Wright Designs!  We love her pieces and this is a new silhouette by her.  It's a longer length and the back is long enough to cover the booty! I love this one front tucked also.  It's great to wear now with white denim, but can totally see wearing this into the fall with regular or black denim or even untucked with Spanx leggings!

Host the Ultimate Percy Jackson Pool Party

Usually during the Summer we have to beg our kids to read. Refreshingly, the griping has been almost non-existent this year. We started reading the Percy Jackson series together, and the kids have loved it. The books are really well written, and are extremely fast paced so it keeps our young readers attention.

Some of our little ones aren't advanced enough to read the books yet so we downloaded the Audible versions for them to listen to while everyone else read it. Honestly, it might be one of the best Audible books I've ever heard. I'm so impressed with the narrator's ability to speak in so many voices. I've enjoyed listening to it just as much as the kids!

If you are interested in reading or listening to the books we noticed that The Lightning Thief (the first book in the series), the Audible versions of the books, and the boxed set are all on sale on Amazon right now!

HOST A PERCY JACKSON PARTY

We are about halfway through the series, and decided to have a little fun with it. Never ones to shy away from a chance to throw a good themed party, we came up with the idea to have Percy Jackson pool party. We used the books as inspiration, and invited anyone who has been reading the books along with us.

There were Pegasus floats, themed food, and - because the boys are involved - tridents on the ready for battle.

Make the hop over to Savvy Sassy Moms to see more details and photos from the Percy Jackson Party and check out all the ideas on how you can host your own. We also share a free printable for discussion cards to keep the conversation going.

What books are your kids reading for Summer? We are always looking for more good ones to keep our readers motivated? We'd love to hear!
