They really allow the kids to get immersed in the farm, learn about the animals, and have a hands-on approach. I started looking back through old photos and found some from a few of our visits years ago. I mean...I can hardly take it. My kids were just babies!!!
Jen and I went back a few years later and just look at how tiny our boys were. That's Boo-Boo and Cute checking out a donkey!
Each visit you get to be really hands on with the animals and also you get lead through a little art lesson that teaches you how to paint some of the farm animals.
Our visit last week was fantastic because the weather was so perfect. Cool in the morning, but warm in the sun and the perfect fall day.
First up the kids got to paint. Their chickens all turned out so cute and they each added their own flair to them.
It's pretty fun to be painting outside and then have a real-life chicken as your model walking right past as you paint.
Next up they got a lesson in chickens, baby chicks and eggs! They got to see different types of eggs and hold baby chicks.
While that was happening we looked over and saw some goats on the roof! It was seriously the funniest thing any of us had ever seen. They were happy as can be just hanging out up there until another one tried to climb up...then they decided it was time to chase some of them off.
Me moved over to the barnyard and got introduced to all the barnyard animals including goats, donkeys, sheep, pigs and cows. The kids got to roam freely petting them all and getting to know them up close and personal.
Lastly before lunch they visited the Bee Garden where the learned all about how bees live, how they make honey, and why they should never swat at a honey bee!
It was such a fantastic day and we ended our field trip fun by eating lunch outdoors under some huge magnolia trees before heading back to school. We were all exhausted by the end of the day, but it was worth it!
