Teen Hangout Room {Part 2 - It's DONE!!!}

I'm so excited to finally share the completed Teen Hangout Room/Media Room!  It's actually been done for a while, but I finally got a chance to take pictures when my kids weren't in there.  :-) This room used to be our play room and I shared the first part of the transformation HERE.

My goal was to make this a spot where the kids would want to hang with lots of comfortable seating options.  I love how everything came together using mostly items we already owned.

We added the accent wall and painted that dark (SW Urbane Bronze), which I don't regret one bit. We got new carpet, and then moved the sectional from our living room into this space.  It's big and super comfortable so it is perfect for this room.  All of the other furniture is stuff we already had in other parts of the house.

The giant blue bean bag chair is something my son bought on his own and I knew it would be great in here, but just wasn't sure how to tie it into my boho vision. When I found a few pillows with the same color in them at Tuesday Morning I just knew they would be perfect.

The other pillows are either from Amazon or Wal-Mart. Their Better Homes and Garden line has the BEST stuff at very affordable prices.

We moved the air hockey table from our basement into this room and the kids have played it more than I think they ever have...especially if they have friends over so that's been fun for them.

After all my sewing for the new living room curtains I knew I just wanted to buy something for in here. These velvet curtains aren't 100% blackout, but they do a pretty good job and certainly make the room super dark during the day if they kids want to watch movies in here.

I'm so happy with the way the room turned out!  Not only do the kids love it, but the Mr. loves hanging out in there too because it's so cozy and the giant TV on the wall is pretty enticing. It accomplished exactly what I wanted to to and we still have the closet to store the toys that will occasionally get used.

Friday Favorites: Small Business We Love

Happy Friday!  One of the most fun things about what we do with Magnolia Mamas is getting introduced to new concepts, ideas, brands and products.  We see all sorts of things come across our channels, but we are pretty selective in what we actually accept and who we want to share with you all.  Today's Friday Favorites are brought to you by some small companies that we really love and couldn't wait to share with you all!

This week my daughter had her first week of high school cheer tryouts!  I can hardly believe she will be in high school next year, but she is so excited so I'm really happy for her.

I had a very last minute idea to get some decorated cookies for her and a few of her friends to wish them good luck!  I had the idea on Friday night and needed the cookies on Monday. I reached out to Christina's Baking Studio and she agreed to do the rush order for me.

I was so happy with the way they turned out and the girls loved them.  I've used Christina's Baking Studio a few times in the past and she never disappoints! If you are local, definitely check her out. You can find her on Facebook or Instagram

We were recently introduced to Lunchy Club and let me just tell you, it is such a game changer!  If you are like me and dread packing lunches each night, this service is for you.  You can order customized lunches for your kids, picking the items you know they will eat.

I loved that they had everything from organic snacks and juices to full on Kool-aid and Fruit-by-the-Foot options.

You place the order by Tuesday night and then it is delivered to you over the weekend so you are ready to have them for lunches the next week.  SUCH a brilliant idea and a major time saver. Plus, my kids loved it because they thought it was something fun and different than what I normally pack for them.  Lunchy Club is offering free shipping through the end of the month, so it's a great time to check them out!

I've been wanting some new necklaces that I could wear for a layered look and when I saw these Tough As A Mother necklaces I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for.  This small company is mama owned and part of their mission is to minimize mom guilt and encourage positive daily affirmations.  That is something ALL mamas need!

I decided to do the initial necklace with my own initials, but you could do your kids' initials, names, or anything else that is meaningful to you.  I also layered with one of the stone necklaces. Each of them has a different meaning and the one I picked means "balance." Clear quartz promotes patience and perseverance over worry and struggle...I just loved that!  These would be great for Mother's Day gifts!
You can see all that they offer HERE

Ever since I discovered that I can cook salmon in my air fryer, it's become a weekly go-to for dinner which means we are eating a lot more fish than we used to.  When I learned about Sitka Salmon Shares I knew it would be a great fit for our family!

It's a community supported fishery that offers monthly shares of wild-caught seafood from a collection of Alaskan fishing families.  They are responsibly harvested seasonally by their small-boat fisherman, swiftly blast frozen which gives it the fresh-from-the-ocean taste, and then delivered directly to your doorstep!

Each delivery also includes recipe cards that offer suggestions and ideas for preparing the fish.  If you are a family that eats a lot of fish, this would be a great option for you!  Check out their website HERE and be sure to use code MAGNOLIAFISH for $25 off the 2021 Premium Share box option.

Spring is here!  We just love this time of year because we love wearing bright and colorful things. We've been Eva Franco Designs fans for a while now and every time we share pieces from her line we get so many comments and questions.

You may recognize some of her items from Anthropologie, but she is now selling directly from her website.  We got some new spring/summer items and just LOVE them.

These items were actually part of their colorful surprise box we received.  You tell them your size and then they hand pick items just for you and send them your way.  It's so funny because some of the pieces I received were things I never would have picked for myself, but ended up loving when I tried them on.  I always go for the same styles and this forced me out of my comfort zone.

We have a discount code if anyone is interested in adding something new to your spring/summer wardrobe.  Use code MAGNOLIA30 for 30% off!  It won't work on the surprise boxes because they are already such a steal, but if you want individual items be sure to use that and save. :-)

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!!

Neutral Home Refresh: T.J. Maxx

For the last few weeks, my sister and I have been texting back and forth decor ideas. She decided she wanted to refresh a few rooms in her house and wanted some help. After staring at her spaces for over a year, she opted for some lighter brighter looks.

So far I am loving what she has picked out. I am also loving her ability to find great home decor and budget friendly prices. Unlike her older sister, she still isn't willing to risk the Covid for a throw pillow and some fun home accessories. Therefore she was able to introduce me to T.J. Maxx - online!

How did I not know you could shop T.J. Maxx home decor, and have it delivered straight to your door step?!

I love T.J. Maxx for their inexpensive home accessories, and they always have great deals and selections of throw pillows. This might be the greatest thing since Target delivering straight to my door step with in hours (trust me, it's a dangerous dangerous thing!).

Here's a sneak peek at some of the items I am loving right now...

  1. Snow Dot Throw (so cozy & soft!!)
  2. Marble Globe Book Ends
  3. White Ceramic Base Lamps
  4. Coffee Table Books - (Beach House & Small Spaces)
  5. Mango Wood One Drawer Side Table
  6. Mange Wood Side Table
  7. Throw Pillows - (Grey Fringe & Textured Lumbar)
  8. Set of Wall Frames (such a great deal for the quality!)
  9. Grey Basket with Wood Handles
  10. Handwoven Indoor Outdoor Rug

Target Spring Fashion Finds

The weather in Atlanta was BEAUTIFUL last week.  Warm, sunny, and such a tease of what's to come this spring.  This week is back to cold and rainy here, but I know spring days will be here to stay before we  know it.  I love this time of year when everything is blooming and you can dress in colorful clothing daily!

I found some super cute spring fashion finds at Target and was able to wear every single one of them last week while the warm weather lasted.  I wanted to share my finds with all of you because most of these are under $20! I love solid dresses for spring because they can be dressed up with jewelry and cute sandals or dressed down with sneakers or flip-flops.  Plus they look cute with a denim jacket for cool mornings and evenings, but you can shed the jacket in the afternoon when it's hot.  It's like the perfect outfit for this time of year so a lot of what I'm sharing are dresses!  I'm also going to share a few cute tops because, like the dresses, they can be so versatile.  I love white denim this time of year with a bright and colorful or a pretty pastel top, but those can also be worn into summer with denim cut-off shorts.

All items linked below (left to right, top to bottom) and all of these come in multiple colors.

1. Sleeveless Drop Waist Dress ($15) - My store didn't have my size in this one, but I love the silhouette and the deep V neckline!

2. Sleeveless Babydoll Dress ($15) - This is another one that I love the shape of and I feel like it is flattering on all body types.

3. Knit Tank Dress ($10) - This one is about as basic as it gets, but simple and cute to thrown on all spring and summer long.

4. V-Neck Tee ($8) - These are my very favorite basic v-neck tees.  Come in a ton of colors and super soft!

5. Lace Flutter Sleeve Tank ($15) - This is from Target's Knox Rose line, which I love. Their pieces often have a little more boho feel to them.  I loved the flutter sleeve detail on this and fabric is SO soft.  I'll be wearing this with white denim this spring and with shorts all summer long!

6. Long Sleeve Linen Tee ($15) - I fell in love with this pretty pastel and the lightweight linen makes it perfect for coolers days. This is another one I will wear with pants now and shorts as it starts to warm up because of the lightweight fabric. It is see-through so I wore a solid tank under it.

7. Ruffle Sleeveless Tiered Dress ($35) - My friend actually told me about how amazing this dress was so I had to check it out.  I don't usually like the midi-length dresses on me, but loved this one!  It is so comfortable and doesn't need to be ironed after washing, which is another bonus in my book.

8. Tiered Tank Dress ($20) - My store was out of this one, but I plan to order and wear it as a swim cover up. I have one from Target that is super old, but it is always one of my go-to coverups!

9. Short Sleeved Babydoll Dress ($25) - This dress is comfortable with a capital C!  It is called a sweatshirt dress online, but it's more of a terrycloth material on the inside so it is really soft and would also make a great swim cover up.  Just easy to throw on and feel put together, but really casual and cute. I also love the pretty blue and fuchsia color it comes in.

How to Create Farmhouse Style Soap Dispensers

Now that we've lived in our new house for a little over eight months, I think we have finally moved on from the renovation part of our move. Now I can concentrate on the fun part of our move - the decorating! And trust me when I say I've created a loooooong list of small projects that we need to knock out.

Some of the projects are a little larger and require some assistance from my favorite handy man. (Sorry, not sorry, Mr. Magnolia - get your tool belt ready!) However, most are quick and easy finishing touches I can do.

One of the smaller projects on my list was putting the finishing details on our guest bathrooms. For the most part everything is finished with both of these spaces. But, I just wanted to add a little more of a custom touch or two to each space. With the approaching Summer months, I know our basement bathrooms will be getting a lot of use once we re-open the pool. I'll share a full tour soon, but for this post you are going to get a super easy project I was able to knock out that returned a major impact.

Before, I had just placed a simple store bought soap dispenser in each bathroom. Scrolling through Pinterest one day looking for bathroom decor ideas, I spotted a fun soap dispenser set. That got me thinking that could be something I easily exchange out to add a little something "extra" to the bathrooms.

Let me just tell you - I almost can't claim this as a "project" because it literally took two less than five minutes to complete. But look how adorable!

HOW TO CREATE FARMHOUSE STYLE SOAP DISPENSERS

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

- Blank & smooth surface soap dispensers (I ordered a few sets, but used this soap dispenser set for this project, which come in a few finish options.)
- Custom labels (You can design your own with the help of Photoshop, Canva, etc. I purchased this label set and this label set from Etsy.)

- Waterproof Vinyl Sticker Paper
- Scissors
- Desired dispenser fillers: soap, lotion, hand sanitizer, mouth washer, etc.

INSTRUCTIONS

- Wipe off the surface of your soap dispensers. Make sure they are free of dust, crumbs, etc.
- Print and cut out your labels.

- Carefully place label on the surface of your soap dispenser. Start at one corner and slowly smooth down the label as your go so that any bubbles can be avoided.

- Done! Just add soap, lotion etc.

See...SO EASY!

I had my favorite soap and lotion on hand to complete this project. In another bathroom I used the "hand soap" and "sanitzer" labels. I love the look of them so much I've already ordered a few more dispenser sets for the remainder of my bathrooms. Even one for my kitchen sink! #cantstopwontstop
