Rug Refresh with Old Time Pottery

Thank you Old Time Pottery for sponsoring our Rug Refresh. All thoughts and opinions are our own.

I'm knocking items off my January project list left and right. This week's project was a rug refresh. I feel like a rug is one of those decor pieces that you should always put at the top of the list. It anchors the room, can pull together colors, or can serve as texture to your space. Last year I updated all the rugs on the main floor of our home, so this year I decided to set my sights on our bedrooms and upper floor of our home.

Because these are some of the rooms the kids frequent the most, and not ones typically seen by guests, I wanted to try to keep these rugs more budget friendly. Old Time Pottery was one of the first places that popped into my mind. They are usually one of the top places I go when I need seasonal decor or great accessories, but I remembered they also have a large rug section.

And boy do they ever. I didn't realize how large of a selection they actually have until I started working my way through it.

Indoor rugs. Out door rugs. Bathroom rugs. Large, medium sized, small, handmade...they offer it all.

There are tons of colors, patterns, piles, and textures available in a variety of sizes. I knew I needed something in the 5x7 to 8x10 range, and had specific colors in mind. I had a hard time limiting myself to not take a basket full of rugs home. There were so many great options and one rug in particular had me almost convinced to re-do an entire space around it. But, I managed to show restraint.

For now.

My favorite shopping buddy and I left with two rugs - one for the baby's room and one for our master bedroom.

MASTER BEDROOM RUG REFRESH

Our bedroom seems to be one of those spaces I constantly am tweaking. I think because it is one of the rooms we spend the most time in it. We have a little reading/TV watching nook set up in it and the kids love snuggling up in it while I'm folding laundry or cleaning.

I've actually been on a hunt for a rug for this room for years, but could never find anything I just loved. Just when I put it out of my mind, I find something. This was actually the first rug I spotted at Old Time Pottery. I noticed the cute tassel edges and it looked like the right color blue that we have sprinkled throughout the room. When I opened it up to check it, I knew immediately it was going to come home with me. And for less than $130...Mr. Cute is lucky I didn't buy two.

The rug also has a subtle cream pattern in it too that I love.

The rug was just what our bedroom needed for a little pop of color amidst all the neutral whites we have going on.

NURSERY RUG REFRESH

The nursery is the room that will be getting the biggest makeover this year. Our baby isn't so baby any more. It's more than time for her to be in a big girl bed. And let's be honest, she's only slept in that crib like five days her entire life. She "naps" in it some nights, but most of the time she sneaks into our bed or her siblings beds.

Her room will be staying similar colors, but she's requested a "princess" room. When I spotted this rug, I knew it would be the perfect addition to her big girl room makeover.

But I just couldn't resist going ahead and putting it out. It immediately brightened her entire room. I wish I had done a rug refresh in there earlier.

Her room is one of my favorites we've done in our house. It will be bitter sweet to see it change from nursery to a big girl room. She's the last of our little ones and it reminds me how quickly she is growing up.

But it is fun getting her input and seeing her little personality take shape in her room. More pink, more "make-up", and more soft touches like this rug. It was also a steal at under $100 for the quality and the size (its a 5x7).

I'll share more about her updated room soon, but for now we're all enjoying these little rug refreshes I found at Old Time Pottery. Now to decide whether to go back for that rug I'm still thinking about days later...

Summer Home Refresh with Old Time Pottery {Giveaway!}

A big thank you to Old Time Pottery for sponsoring this post.  All thoughts, ideas and and opinions are our own.

We have some friends coming in town this weekend to stay with us before we all head on vacation together.  I've been wanting to do a little guest room refresh for a while now, but it's always one of those rooms that never makes it to the top of the list. When Old Time Pottery asked if we wanted to do a summer home refresh I jumped at the chance and knew just what room I wanted to focus on.

One thing on the top of my list for our guest room was to find new lamps.  The lamps I had in there were about 12 years old and used to be in our living room. When we moved to our new house I stuck them in that guest bedroom, but never really loved them in there.  They were really dark, a little more formal, and just not my style anymore.  Last week I checked out what Old Time Pottery had and was SO impressed with their lamp selection.

They had a lot of really stylish options and I actually had a hard time narrowing down the ones I wanted.  I also grabbed some new pillows, some greenery and something new for the wall over the bed.  I couldn't wait to get home and put it all together.

I love how just these few items really changed the entire look of the room and made it feel more put together.  The lamps really brighten up the room and the new wall art is so pretty!  I love a mix of metal and wood.

Switching out pillows is always one of my favorite ways to refresh a room and I love these pretty blue ones.

For just about $100 I was able to give this guest bedroom a refresh and feel like it's ready to make our guests feel welcome and comfortable!

Do you have a room in your house you'd like to do a little refresh on?  You are in luck because our friends at Old Time Pottery said we could give away a $100 gift card to one of you!  To enter, just leave us a comment below telling us what room in your home you'd like to refresh! Summer Fun with Old Time Pottery {Giveaway!}

Thank you to Old Time Pottery for sponsoring this post. All thoughts, opinions and summer fun are our own.

The unofficial start to Summer is here and we are so ready! School is out for most of the Mini Magnolias, and we are ready to spend the next few months soaking in all the Summer we can. With pool and lake time on the schedule from now until August we made it our mission this week to stock up on all the summer essentials.

I don't know about you, but by the end of each season we seem to lose about 90% of our pool toys. We end up with a mis-matched set of dive toys, a handful of water guns who lived their best life and only work on occasion, and our goggles are hanging on by a sad rubbery little thread.

When your crew and their band of pint sized friends tend to Marco-Polo/mermaid/water wrestle/race/dive/cannon ball/Category from sun up to sun down, you learn pretty quick to not spend a ton of money on anything they are going to be playing with at the pool. Pool toys tend to get thrown into one big splash fest, and floats get passed around and serve about sixteen different purposes. That's the magic of Summer - everyone is blissed out on all that Vitamin D and the unlimited possibilities that a large body of water can provide - no one cares (for the most part) whose is what. But all that magic doesn't have to break your budget.

This week we made our way to our local Old Time Pottery to stock up on all the summer things. Old Time Pottery always has a great selection of high quality seasonal items for more than affordable prices.  Over the years they have become one of our favorite go-to places for re-stocking our summer fun stashes.

| Patio Umbrellas

They always have a ton of great items on hand, and their shelves are always fully stocked. So when you need to buy five identical pink mermaid sand toys (because apparently not all sand toys are created equal) they have your back.

Old Time Pottery covers all our summer fun needs. From portable chairs to plush towels to toys and everything in between - we love that we can walk in knowing we will be able to find everything we need to get us ready for summer.

This year was no exception. Usually it is the kids who I have to limit from going crazy, but this year I was having a hard time showing restraint. There were just so many fun things on every shelf you looked. We make our way to the beach in a few weeks with our extended family, and we love playing games on the beach. I was so excited to stock up on a few fun new ones!

The kids found plenty of fun, unique new toys of their own too. And most were under $5! You can't beat that!

But their favorite had to be the selection of pool floats they have on hand. Every kind of pool float you can image! The kids thought this pizza one was hilarious. Most floats are under $20 - even for the large "instagram-worthy" ones.

Stocking up on the essentials is easy too. I grabbed a stash of new goggles because this seems to be the number one thing we tend to lose or break each summer. It's also nice to have a few extra pair on hand in case any of our pool guests need a pair too.

The minute the girls spotted these mini collapsible chairs they wanted one. As certified soccer siblings they spend a ton of time on the sidelines cheering on their brother. They were so excited to see a "soccer chair" just their size, I couldn't say no. Especially for only $6.99! I grabbed a few for our crew and then grabbed one to wrap up as a part of a gift for a summer birthday party we have coming up.

Beach shovels, sand toys, pool floats, splash balls, water guns, beach chairs, towels...you get the idea! We left Old Time Pottery totally stocked and ready!

The kids can't wait to play with all their new stuff, and the excitement that we all have for the summer ahead is almost bursting out of us.

We are so excited that we just can't keep it all to ourselves. We have a little summer fun surprise for you too!
