Super Bowl Weekend in Atlanta

I think almost a full week later I have finally recovered from Super Bowl Weekend here in Atlanta.  We were lucky enough to get to attend the big game and loved the entire weekend.

It started off on Friday afternoon when we made our way downtown to check into our hotel.  Even though it was in our home city, I was really happy that we had a place to stay.  Traffic was crazy getting in and out of the city and just around in general.  We were at The American Hotel and it was right downtown so we could walk to everything!

We went to a delicious dinner at Morton's Steakhouse and then got to see Imagine Dragons at the Tabernacle.  It was such a great venue for a concert and so small and intimate. It was nice to be able to see everything up close and they put on a great show!

Friday night I wore my favorite leggings and this awesome faux fur vest that I have shared before.

On Saturday we went to came home to do some stuff with the kids and then went back downtown Saturday night for the Cardi B and Bruno Mars concert.

We were in the Atlanta Social area and it was super nice VIP section.

There was quite a bit of excitement before the concert began when we sat down with some friends of ours and they pointed over to who they thought was Lady Gaga.  I about lost my mind. I'm a huge Lady Gaga fan!  When I saw her thought I just wasn't sure. I asked all of our Instagram followers on our story and the majority of them thought it was her, too. She was in a separate section, had security with her and everything.

So then when she got up to go to the bathroom I saw her face to face and realized that it wasn't her, but we knew the guy she was with did have to be someone famous.  The security and body guards were actually with him!

I texted the pic to a few friends and put it on our story and sure enough, within a few minutes we had an answer. It was recording artist named Maluma. Never heard of him myself, but still fun entertainment before the concert began for us to fan over.

Cardi B played first and then next up was Bruno Mars. He was amazing and put on such a great show. Lots of dancing, which I loved!

We slept in on Sunday morning and then had brunch to fuel us for the rest of the day.

My foot had really been bothering me all weekend so I decided to dress for comfort. I knew that we would be walking quite a distance from the hotel to the stadium and be on our feet a lot of the day.

We had a pre-party tailgate to attend and got to see the Patriot's cheerleaders.  I wasn't really cheering for the Patriots, but I love all cheerleaders so got a picture with them and an autographed poster for my daughter that cheers.

Walking through downtown to the stadium was exciting, scary, crazy and full of excitement.  There were people EVERYWHERE.  People just hanging out and wanting to be a part of the action.

Once we got in the stadium and found our seats I looked up and was amazed!  I had been in Mercedes Benz Stadium a lot of times and never seen the roof open!

They had it open so that we could see the fly over during the national anthem.

It was such a quick moment, but so very cool to see.

I sort of wish they had left the roof open, but as soon as it was over I looked up and it was closed.

The first half of the game was Boring with a capital B.  But when it was time for the half-time show we were pretty pumped!

I heard a lot of criticism on the radio and social media the next day.  However, in person it was a great show and very entertaining.

Overall it was a great night and we were so thankful that we got to attend.  I always have to stop myself and just take it all in because it is a surreal experience.

Super Bowl Weekend Is HERE

This post is sponsored by Moroch Partners. All thoughts and opinions are our own!

Super Bowl weekend is here!!!  We are so excited to be able to take part in a lot of the fun Super Bowl festivities this weekend and having it all in our backyard makes it that much better!

I was lucky enough to go to my first Super Bowl a few years ago in San Fransisco and then again in Houston.  There is something special about being in the heart of these cities and being surrounded by all of the excitement.  Seeing the city we love and the one we call home be able to host the big event is something I'm thrilled to be able to be a part of.

Buildings are wrapped, hotels are packed and Centennial Olympic Park has been transformed into Super Bowl Live.

There are people everywhere and it is completely free to enter!  It is filled with different exhibits, performers, athletes and and sculptures.

We checked out the Deion Sanders sculpture by New York artist, Michael Murphy. He was commissioned to design the piece that represents the amazing Deion Sanders from two different perspectives.  Depending on how you look at it you can see the football player from one angle and the baseball player from another angle.

I grew up cheering for the Braves and the Falcons and watching athletes like Deion Sanders.  I find his story of playing both sports professionally  so impressive.  ESPN has introduced their new 30 for 30 film, “Deion’s Double Play.” The film takes viewers back to October of 1992 when Sanders attempted to play a pro football game and a baseball game in the same day. In different cities.  I mean, I am in charge of transportation of athletes in our household and I know how tricky those logistics can be.  Can you even imagine getting someone from one city to a completely different one for professional sports?!? You can learn more about the film HERE

Be sure to check back next week and I’ll be sharing all about the Super Bowl fun!

Baseball Moms {10 Essentials for Surviving Allstar Summer Ball}

It's no secret I'm a baseball mama. I've talked about it several times here before and my little guy is just so in love with the game.  He and I have spent many hours practicing together...from playing catch to some driveway hitting sessions, he always wants the Mr. or I to be outside playing ball with him.   All long his goal was to tryout and make the summer allstar team. He told me if he found out he made the team it would be the best day of his life.  He says that a a lot about a lot of different things so this kid has a pretty good life, but he was so excited when he found out he had made the team.

We are two tournaments in and I am having just as much fun as he is!  There is nothing I love more than cheering on my sweet boy doing what he loves. We even had Jen and Cute there for one of his games!

We're with a great group of kids and families and that makes it so much more fun. We are rookies when it comes to the summer ball thing, but a lot of these families are seasoned pros so we have learned from the best so I'm sharing 10 must-have essentials for surviving allstar summer baseball.  And a lot of these things can be used for more than just baseball!

1. Tents
This team's tent game is on point.  It is a well orchestrated event to get tents up and in place.  With the hot sun beating down, it is the only way we can manage to stand sitting in the stands to cheer for our boys.  It's amazing to watch one team break down, move tents and then the next team seamlessly move in with their tents.

2. Misting fans
This is probably one of the best inventions ever!  It reminds me of the misting areas at Disney World.  You fill a bucket with water, put this fan with a hose connected to it on top and when you turn it on the mist blows out and starts cooling us off. I always strategically place myself near the mister!

3. Bleacher seat cushions
This is being purchased as a Father's Day gift for two people I know this year.  It is brutal to sit for double headers on the hard bleacher seats with no back support.  These seats make it much more comfortable and will probably help my slouching, too!

4. Collapsible Wagons
You have to have a way to get all this stuff with you to the fields...especially if you have to park kind of far away!  These soft sided wagons collapse so they don't take up much room in the back of your car, but they can haul a ton of stuff!

5. Cooling neck towels
I worry about the poor boys playing ball all day in the hot sun, but we do our best to keep them cool with fans in the dugout and they all have these cooling neck towels that they wear between innings or when they aren't batting.  It really seems to help!

6. Good insulated water bottles/cups
A good insulated and leak-proof water bottle is a must.  We go through so much water on these hot days.  Our favorites are the Under Armor jug and a Swell or Corkcicle for us spectators.  You can read all about which keeps water coldest the longest from my daughter's Science Fair experiment!

7. Cooler
A cooler with extra waters to refill cups, snacks, Gatorades and even extra ice is nice on those super hot days.  We've been using this Yeti Hopper Flip 8 on tournament days and it is the perfect size!  It holds several drinks, a big ziplock of extra ice and there is always extra room for some snacks like fresh fruit, etc.

8. Baseball Apparel
Love supporting our team with some of my favorite baseball apparel.  I have a team shirt, but just ordered a few others like this and I'm eyeing these earrings, leather wrap bracelet and adorable baseball sandals.

9. A Big Tote Bag
While I'm at it, this super cute baseball tote bag is calling my name!  I have a big bag I've been using, but the handle is about to bite the dust so this one might be my next purchase.

10. White Brite & Fels-Naptha
There is nothing better than some crisp white baseball pants. That is until your kids takes a dive into second base and gets them COVERED in red clay.  I used to cringe, but now that I have a few secret ingredients to make white pants white again I don't even bat an eyelash. This cocktail of cleaners is seriously a miracle worker!  First I soak the pants using White Brite and then rub a bit of Fels-Naptha on the really dingy parts like knees.  Lastly I wash with some other white towels and the pants come out good as new every.single.time.  You would think I would get used to the results, but I'm literally amazed every time!

DIY Personalized Socks and Bag Tags {Summit Goodie Bags}

So I'm a cheer mom.  I'm also a soccer mom and a baseball mom, but my oldest is obsessed with cheer and it is pretty much her life!  Allstar cheer is a crazy, but fun world.  She works so hard and her team received a "bid" (which is basically an invitation) to Summit this year. Summit is a competition that is held at Disney and is like the Super Bowl of cheer competitions.  Your team has to be invited to be able to attend.  She's been super excited about this and all of the moms wanted to make it as special for them as possible!

Before their first competition I made these little treats for her team and they all loved it.  We knew we wanted to do something similar for Summit, so all of the moms decided to come up with items to put in goodie bags for the kids.

We came up with some cute little sayings to go along with items for their bags and I had come up with two ideas to make.  One were some personalized socks (telling them to "knock the judges socks off") and the other were personalized bag tags they could all put on their team back packs.

For the socks, I started with these Avery iron-on transfers and figured it couldn't be too hard.  It was actually super simple to come up with a design and print onto the transfers!

First I found clip-art I wanted to use and sized it correctly to fit onto the socks.  Then I used the "flip" option to get the reverse of the image so that when it ironed on it would read the correct way.

Next I printed out the designs on the transfer sheets using my regular printer.

I was ready to cut out and iron them on the socks. Problem was I had to leave to pick up my kids so I left these in a basket on the floor and when I came back, I saw this!!!

My dog had eaten two full sheets and this is what was left of the third. I couldn't believe it and was so mad. So after I printed more I was ready to cut them apart and start ironing them on.

Using the hottest setting, you just hold the iron on over the design for 30-45 seconds.

After letting it cool for just a few minutes then you simply peel off the backing...

And your design is on there!  So simple and so cute!

These turned out so cute and I'm so excited for the kids to open them up.  Hoping they all decide to wear them when they compete so they can "knock the judge's socks off!"

I made one more thing for their Summit send-off goodies.  Each of the kids has a cheer backpack so I wanted to create a bag-tag that would be specific for Summit.   I bought these Self-Seal laminating pouches to use for this project.

Then, I made the designs using the website BeFunky.com. You can change background colors, add text, images, etc. I found a Minnie clip art and put their team name and each of the kids' names for the front and for the back just the gym name and their team chant.  Next I glued the front and back together and followed directions on the packaging to seal.

Lastly, I punched holes in the corner and added book rings to each of them. I finished them off with some cute ribbon and they were done!

This was such a simple project and my wheels started turning to think of other reasons to make personalized bag tags!  My other kiddos might be getting some for their bags soon also!
