Fashion Fix: What I Wore & Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday!  Since I got back Monday afternoon from our Key West trip this week has seemed super short, but it has also been super busy. It is just hard to be gone while the kids are in school and I have felt like I was playing catch up all week.  I couldn't be more excited about a long weekend ahead of us!

Today I thought I would share some of what I've been wearing lately.  I always love seeing other bloggers outfits when they share so hoping y'all will enjoy this, too.  If I'm being totally honest, a lot of days I look like this.

If I take one of my workout classes in the mornings or go walk with my dog, I usually just go about my day of running errands, carpooling and keeping up with the kids unless I have some reason to get dressed up.

When I started looking back at all of these pictures I realized that I wear a lot of solids and dress it up with fun accessories.  It can totally change the look of an outfit.  For example, I wore this very old solid brown cotton sun dress to open house at the school one evening.  I wore it with wedges and this necklace.

I also had on my gold watch and fun bracelets.

Well, because I only had the dress on about an hour and a half the night before it didn't get dirty and I knew I wouldn't be seeing any of the same people again so I wore it the next morning to my hair appointment and just wore flat sandals and one of my DIY Tassel necklaces.

When I don't have on a comfy dress, I usually am in shorts.  J Crew shorts are my favorite. I like the way they fit, I know my size so I can order online, and they come in so many fun colors and patterns.
I still wear them with a lot of solids and basic tops and dress it up with accessories.  My leopard belt remains one of my favorites!  And my JORD watch has been getting a lot of face time, too!

I also love these J Crew shorts with colored tees and a necklace.  It kind of dresses up shorts and a tee and makes me feel more put together.  The shorts are a great price right now and it's a great time to stock up on some fun colors for next summer!

Here are the same mint colored shorts and necklace paired with a black top I found on clearance at Target for about $8.  I love me a good sale!

And again my fun watch!

One of my go-to outfits lately on the weekend has been my weekend tee.  Seriously, this thing is SO soft. I found it at Target on a whim and it was less than $15 so it had to come home with me.  It is sold out online, but check your stores!  Also love my Barrington tote.  It is a great mama bag with plenty of room for all of everyone's things!

And for those of you that read about my Key West trip, you saw this pic of me in my absolute favorite piece of Lilly Pulitzer that I own...my romper. It is bright, colorful, comfortable and so CUTE!!!  I wanted to buy a second on during the After Party Sale, but got a dress for myself instead.  That being said though, I think everyone should own at least one Lilly romper.  (FYI- I am usually a small in Lilly stuff, but I sized up for this because it has adjustable straps and the Medium is perfect.)

And this was me on the way to pick up Blondie from a birthday party and before we were all heading out to dinner with our neighbors. I wanted to show my earrings because, well I love them!  I had my eye on them for so long and finally bit the bullet and bought them.  I have worn them SO much and highly recommend them if you love big hoops. The little details on them that make them different than plain hoops is what put me over the edge.

Now, since it's September now and in my mind Fall is right around the corner, I'd love to start doing a little transitioning with my clothes.  However, it still feels like summer. Pretty sure my car said it was 97 degrees today.  That is just plain HOT!  I'm not one of those people that can start wearing jeans when it is still toasty outside. I'm in shorts until I get goosebumps on my legs so transitioning to Fall can be kind of tricky, but I feel like darker colors and patterns can make outfits feel more like Fall, even if it is still warm.

A few weeks ago I was on the hunt for a dress to wear to the pageant I was judging and while I was doing that I decided to scope out some cute things for transitioning to Fall.  Basically things I could wear now and also into Fall.  I stopped by The Avenue East Cobb and started walking around.  I tried on lots and found some cute things so I thought I would share my dressing room diaries with you.  Don't mind the yoga pants and ponytail.  I'd just come from a barre class!

The first place that caught my eye was Talbots.  Now, Talbots usually makes me think of my late grandmother.  I remember shopping there with her when I was little and she bought pretty much the majority of her clothing there.  While some of the styles cater to older women, they had some really adorable trendy things, too. Plus, they were having a HUGE sale.

I saw this top from the window and knew I had to try it on. I love anything leopard print and the colors of this were so fun.  It's red and navy even though it might look black in the pics.  The fabric was so soft and I thought it would be cute with shorts and a denim jacket now and then with jeans when it cools off.

And look at the fun contrasting stripes on the back of the shirt.  So fun!

Next I popped in Loft and guess what I found...more leopard print!!!  This dress was light and flowy. I could wear it now with sandals and add a denim jacket when we have cool mornings and then put it over leggings and boots with a denim jacket when it gets really cold.

I also loved this top from Loft.  It's a t-shirt, but with some added little details to the neckline and around the sleeves that dresses it up a bit.  I could not find the link online, but I'm sure it is in stores.

I figured it would be cute with shorts now and with jeans later on.

My last stop was White House | Black Market.  Their stuff is more dressy, but so pretty!  I love the cold shoulder look and this wine colored top with the ruffles was super soft.  I love the color because it looks more Fall, but it has short sleeves so I won't be dying of a heat stroke!

And then I tried on this off the shoulder top and fell in love with it.  It is long enough to wear with leggings and loose enough to be comfortable.

It could probably be worn on or off the shoulders, but I loved it off the shoulders because it made me feel like Penny from Dirty Dancing!

Y'all like my side-by-side comparison?  Ha!  Seriously though, so cute and it's the perfect colors...red and black.  Just in time for football season.  Go DAWGS!!!

That's it for my Fashion Fix this week.  We hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend and we will see you back here on Tuesday of next week!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday, Friends!  Today we're linking up with some of our favorite bloggers for Friday Favorites!  I have a lot of random favorites to share with you this week and lots of fun things for the kiddos.

So, my little guy turned five last weekend and now he is wanting to learn to tie shoes so he can get some with laces for school.  I pulled out our trusty Melissa & Doug Learn to Lace and Tie shoe from the playroom closet so I could start working with him.  He might need velcro forever because after just a few minutes he was ready to move on and do something else, but I love this tool and I know when he is ready to work on it some more this will soon become one of his favorites, too!

Are anyone else's kids obsessed with Rubik's Cubes?  My girls kept talking about then during the school year because a lot of friends in their classes and on the bus had them. Little Mama got one with some birthday money and we went back the next day because as you can see the other two wanted one also.  Here's the thing, my brain just does not work this way.  I have watched YouTube videos and tutorials for how to solve these impossible puzzles and they make it look so easy, but I've accepted that you either get it or you don't.  I thought the 2x2 cube might be easier to solve, but it seems just as hard to me.  While this is not one of my favorites, it has been fun to play with this summer and my kids would definitely say it is their favorite (even if they can't solve it either!).

It's been so brutally hot here and when my kids want to cool off they have loved this giant Discovery Kids beach ball sprinkler.  You just hook it up to a garden hose and it squirts water.  It's so fun for them and they have made up all kids of games using it.  It's a favorite of mine because it buys be a few minutes to get something done knowing they are all happy and entertained.

We have one more week of summer left.  It just seems wrong to start back to school so early, but I can't change it so instead I'm embracing it. One thing I do every year before school starts is order my new Erin Condren planner.

Now, I'm not paid by them and I don't receive free products. I just love their stuff that much and was SO very excited when I went out late one night to let my dog out and saw this on my doorstep!  Even the box is pretty!

I tried having my calendar digital, but I kept missing things and learned that I'm a person that loves to see everything written down.  So call me old school, but I love a paper planner.  This is my 4th Erin Condren planner and to me they are SO worth the cost.  I love personalizing the cover with pictures of my loved ones.

I also love the vertical layout. It helps me to see how my days will go and keeps me organized. Basically this planner is my life.  I always pay the extra $5 to get an 18 month calendar instead of a 12 month calendar so that I can use it for one whole school year. I love being organized and this planner is definitely my favorite!

A few months ago I lost one of my gold hoop earrings and I've been eyeing these Stella & Dot Isadora hoops as a replacement ever since.  I kept putting off ordering them, but finally bit the bullet and I could not be more happy with them!

I love that they are not just plain hoops and the added details give them a little something extra! They are definitely my favorite earrings now and I've worn them pretty much everyday this week!

Speaking of favorite things to wear, this monogrammed tank from Preppy & Personalized has quickly become one of my favorites.  I wore it to little Boo-Boo's birthday party last week and got tons of compliments on it.  Then I posed this picture on my personal Facebook page and had so many friends email or text me to see where I got it.

I had Blondie take another quick pic of me that evening so you could see the front better because I knew I needed to share it with all of you!

A few notes about this tank...
1. It comes in several different colors.
2. This is the navy one, but it is more of a grayish navy color.
3. It's only $31 and so worth it!
4.  It is very generous, size wise. I am wearing the medium.
5. They have girls sizes too and they run pretty big. My girls love theirs and I don't mind that they are larger because they will be able to wear them longer.  For now they just wear a tank under it.
6. I've washed and dried them a few times and they still look great. I was a little worried about the monogram peeling off, but it still looks great!

These aren't the best pics because I took them really late at night, but this Sally Hansen Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear nail polish is my new favorite.

Little Mama got it for her birthday last year and I've painted her nails a few times with it.  On a whim I used it on Sunday because I wanted a fun pink color and have had a few people comment on the color since then.  I love the bright pink, but what I love even more is that it has stayed on! My nail polish always starts to chip after a day or so, but this one has lasted much longer.   It's a super cheap bottle of nail polish, but it has stayed on way better than any of my more expensive ones.  Crazy, but I'm planning to buy more of this brand.  I'm wearing it in All Bright and love the color.  Online it looks super neon, but it is more of a bright pink.

One of my favorite moments from this week was taking my kids to the World of Coca-Cola!  We went last summer and had a blast so we decided to go back this summer.  I'll share all about it on Monday if anyone is interested in going, but we had the best time!

Last, but not least, is my favorite pup.  Our sweet golden retriever is 2 years old today!  He's such an important part of our family and we are excited to spoil him with lots of treats, toys, and Frosty Paws today. :-)

Hope y'all have a wonderful weekend!  See you back here on Monday!

Fashion Fix: Stella and Dot {Mommy and Me Tunics}

It's no secret we love to dress our kiddos in coordinating outfits and although my kids are getting older and pretty much outgrowing that phase, they still love to match from time to time. One thing the girls are starting to really be interested in now is matching me!  You can imagine how happy that makes me and how cute I think it is that they want to be my mini-me.  Little Mama especially loves to do this and tries to copy outfits I wear and it's totally fun and a big complement to me that she wants to be like me. :-)

A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to try the Stella and Dot Mommy and Me tunics and they are so adorable.  An off-white lace tunic with fringe around the bottom make these perfect as swim coverups or you can wear them with jeans or leggings and a tank under for everyday wear.  I think we'll wear them with jeans or leggings in spring and fall and as swim coverups in the summer.

If you'd like to win these tunics for you and your special girl, along with some other really fantastic prizes for Mother's Day, head to Savvy Sassy Moms for their Mother's Day 2016 Gift Guide and Giveaway.  They are giving away some wonderful prizes and the winner will receive a gift package totaling over $1200!!!

If you don't win and would like to get some tunics for you and your girl you can get them from Stella and Dot.  Women's are HERE.  For size reference I'm wearing the XS/S and found it was plenty roomy enough.  The girls tunic, HERE, comes in one size that says it fits girls 6-10.  Little Mama wears an 8/10 and this fit her perfectly.

While I was checking out the Stella and Dot site for sizing info on the tunic I took a look at some of the other goodies they had to offer.  I have been looking for some new gold hoop earrings and LOVED the ones they had.  I have worn out my current pair (from Target) and I'm sure these would be so much nicer.  I also loved they they were just a little different than plain hoops.  Aren't they pretty?!?!

I also really loved these bracelets and necklaces, too.  That anchor bracelet is calling my name for summer and the pink and gold one would match pretty much my whole wardrobe for spring/summer!

Do you love Stella and Dot?  What are your favorites?
