Friday Favorites

We made it!  Friday is my favorite day of the week.  This week has been a real doozy.  Between the kids' regular stuff, standardized testing for the girls, cheer tryouts for Little Mama, a sick kiddo and a husband that was out of town all week, I am so happy the weekend is here! Today we're linking up with some of our favorite bloggers for Friday Favorites!

First though, I saw this shared on Instagram yesterday and it made me laugh. I get this question all of the time when I run into people and it is always the same answer.  Busy with kids, the house, and just life.  I don't really hate getting asked the question, just thought this was funny!

And now for my Friday Favorites this week...

The weather down south has been pretty crazy.  From 50 degrees to 80 degrees and back to 50 the next day.  This week has been pretty nice all week though and I just love it!  Sitting on my porch watching the kids play and enjoying the sunshine is one of my favorite things to do!

My next favorite this week is some girlfriend time.  The number one questions we get asked is if we are friends in real life and the answer is a big YES!!!  We were friends long before this blog came about.  We don't see each other nearly as much as we used to just because both of us are so busy with the kids, but when we can sneak in a few hours (even if it is "working hours") it's still fun!

OK, last week I shared about EVER make up and how much I love the palette and mascara.

I loved it so much that I decided to order something else I had been eyeing.  This tinted moisturizer with SPF is my new favorite!

It comes in 6 colors and clear, but I got the light color because I am using it as a sheer foundation for spring and summer months. It smells AMAZING and I love how sheer and light weight it feels.

If you are curious about what color would be good for you my friend, Amy, can send you samples and if you want to order anything I have $10 off links so shoot me an email {themagnoliamamas@gmail.com} and I will send you one!

I have been waiting for it to get warm so I could wear these shorts and I have probably worn them 3 times in the past week alone. They are, by far, my favorite denim shorts!!!  I have tried on tons and tons of pairs and even made my own last year.  These win as my favorites, hands down!

I love the perfect amount of distressing, the color of them and the fit.  I would say they are very true to size and super comfortable.

I was a little worried about the distressing and the white threads ripping and showing too much leg, but when they arrived I was so impressed with this little trick.  If you look closely you can see that the threads are sewn in place.

And if you look behind the distressing there is another denim patch sewn on so that you never have to worry about ending up with a big hole in your shorts where you don't want it.

While on the topic of these shorts, I'm going to go ahead and say this entire outfit is my new favorite.

I've gushed about my bag before, so loving my Birkenstocks and this black lace tank is super cute and super comfortable. It is less than $25 and check out the lace detail on the back.

Last, but not least, this week are my white jeans. Still loving these and they are a major favorite during this crazy spring weather when it is hot one day and cold the next. I love being able to wear them and still feel like like sporting spring style, but keeping warm at the same time. Plus, they are on sale for less than $40!!!  A steal in my book!

I sized up one and love the way they fit.  Plus, they don't stretch out a ton so you can wear them a few times without washing (if you can keep them clean!).

We hope everyone has a great weekend and we'll see you back here next week!

Fashion Fix: What I Wore

It's the 3rd of November and it's still hot.  By now I seriously thought we would be in jeans, boots and vests.  But alas, yesterday I wore shorts and sandals and was still hot.  To say I'm over the heat would be an understatement.  Even my kids look longingly at their fall things hanging in their closets and can't wait to wear them.  We had a short little tease of fall weather for about two days, but it obviously didn't last.

So for this edition of What I Wore you'll see some fall pieces mixed in with some summer stuff because I am not one of those people who can wear fall clothes when it feels like summer.

I showed this outfit last week, but it is definitely one of my favorites.

Still loving this monogram necklace from Unlikely Market also.  Don't forget to use the coupon code MM15 for 15 % off.  I ordered two for my girls for Christmas (shh!!!) and might even snag a few more as gifts!

If I'm not in shorts Ive been wearing my favorite distressed denim.  On this night before heading out to eat I also put on my black top, and fun Stella and Dot necklace.

jeans//necklace//shoes (similar)

On one of the cooler evenings we had an outdoor event to attend and I was worried about being cold so I wore my new top from Old Navy.  It has fun lace details on the shoulders and is a great length. I wore it with my black denim, but it would be perfect with leggings, too!

Another date night outfit included lots of my favorites...black denim, turquoise jewelry, leopard and monograms.

I have been able to sneak in my new booties a time or two and still love them.  The real test was when I wore them to Florida last week.  I put them on at 6:30 AM, wore them through the airport, all day long, out to dinner and finally took them off around midnight.  And you know what?!?  They still weren't hurting my feet. That is a winning pair of booties!

The last thing I wore that I absolutely loved and I want to share is my new red dress.  We went to the UGA vs. FL game last weekend and I had a gift card so I decided to pop in to see if I could find something to wear to the game.

This was me in the dressing room at Versona trying to decide if this dress was too fancy for football.  I ended up deciding I could dress it down and then reminded myself that it was SEC football, which means you can wear just about anything.

It was the perfect thing for me to wear to the game because it was going to be cool in the morning and warm in the afternoon.  It looked cute with my denim jacket, but it was so warm I didn't end up needing it.  I had so many compliments on my dress and it was really comfortable to have on all day.

I love that it is so versatile.  Obviously, I wore it to a tailgate and football game, but I am thinking about wearing it for our Christmas card pictures and I also think it would be fun for Christmas parties.  It will be cute with leggings and boots and also dressed up with heels.  Basically, don't be surprised if you see this dress on me a lot!

I got my dress at Versona, but I found the same exact one HERE on Amazon for a better price.  It is less than $30 from Amazon!!!  Check out how cute the back is on the link. It is also available in black.  For sizing reference, I got a small and I'm usually a size 4.  It is a juniors brand so with those I usually I worry about the length for dresses because I am tall and have long legs.  However, this was a great length and not too short on me.

It's also available in navy blue HERE and black or royal blue HERE

Fashion Fix: What I Wore & Dressing Room Diaries

Happy Friday!  Since I got back Monday afternoon from our Key West trip this week has seemed super short, but it has also been super busy. It is just hard to be gone while the kids are in school and I have felt like I was playing catch up all week.  I couldn't be more excited about a long weekend ahead of us!

Today I thought I would share some of what I've been wearing lately.  I always love seeing other bloggers outfits when they share so hoping y'all will enjoy this, too.  If I'm being totally honest, a lot of days I look like this.

If I take one of my workout classes in the mornings or go walk with my dog, I usually just go about my day of running errands, carpooling and keeping up with the kids unless I have some reason to get dressed up.

When I started looking back at all of these pictures I realized that I wear a lot of solids and dress it up with fun accessories.  It can totally change the look of an outfit.  For example, I wore this very old solid brown cotton sun dress to open house at the school one evening.  I wore it with wedges and this necklace.

I also had on my gold watch and fun bracelets.

Well, because I only had the dress on about an hour and a half the night before it didn't get dirty and I knew I wouldn't be seeing any of the same people again so I wore it the next morning to my hair appointment and just wore flat sandals and one of my DIY Tassel necklaces.

When I don't have on a comfy dress, I usually am in shorts.  J Crew shorts are my favorite. I like the way they fit, I know my size so I can order online, and they come in so many fun colors and patterns.
I still wear them with a lot of solids and basic tops and dress it up with accessories.  My leopard belt remains one of my favorites!  And my JORD watch has been getting a lot of face time, too!

I also love these J Crew shorts with colored tees and a necklace.  It kind of dresses up shorts and a tee and makes me feel more put together.  The shorts are a great price right now and it's a great time to stock up on some fun colors for next summer!

Here are the same mint colored shorts and necklace paired with a black top I found on clearance at Target for about $8.  I love me a good sale!

And again my fun watch!

One of my go-to outfits lately on the weekend has been my weekend tee.  Seriously, this thing is SO soft. I found it at Target on a whim and it was less than $15 so it had to come home with me.  It is sold out online, but check your stores!  Also love my Barrington tote.  It is a great mama bag with plenty of room for all of everyone's things!

And for those of you that read about my Key West trip, you saw this pic of me in my absolute favorite piece of Lilly Pulitzer that I own...my romper. It is bright, colorful, comfortable and so CUTE!!!  I wanted to buy a second on during the After Party Sale, but got a dress for myself instead.  That being said though, I think everyone should own at least one Lilly romper.  (FYI- I am usually a small in Lilly stuff, but I sized up for this because it has adjustable straps and the Medium is perfect.)

And this was me on the way to pick up Blondie from a birthday party and before we were all heading out to dinner with our neighbors. I wanted to show my earrings because, well I love them!  I had my eye on them for so long and finally bit the bullet and bought them.  I have worn them SO much and highly recommend them if you love big hoops. The little details on them that make them different than plain hoops is what put me over the edge.

Now, since it's September now and in my mind Fall is right around the corner, I'd love to start doing a little transitioning with my clothes.  However, it still feels like summer. Pretty sure my car said it was 97 degrees today.  That is just plain HOT!  I'm not one of those people that can start wearing jeans when it is still toasty outside. I'm in shorts until I get goosebumps on my legs so transitioning to Fall can be kind of tricky, but I feel like darker colors and patterns can make outfits feel more like Fall, even if it is still warm.

A few weeks ago I was on the hunt for a dress to wear to the pageant I was judging and while I was doing that I decided to scope out some cute things for transitioning to Fall.  Basically things I could wear now and also into Fall.  I stopped by The Avenue East Cobb and started walking around.  I tried on lots and found some cute things so I thought I would share my dressing room diaries with you.  Don't mind the yoga pants and ponytail.  I'd just come from a barre class!

The first place that caught my eye was Talbots.  Now, Talbots usually makes me think of my late grandmother.  I remember shopping there with her when I was little and she bought pretty much the majority of her clothing there.  While some of the styles cater to older women, they had some really adorable trendy things, too. Plus, they were having a HUGE sale.

I saw this top from the window and knew I had to try it on. I love anything leopard print and the colors of this were so fun.  It's red and navy even though it might look black in the pics.  The fabric was so soft and I thought it would be cute with shorts and a denim jacket now and then with jeans when it cools off.

And look at the fun contrasting stripes on the back of the shirt.  So fun!

Next I popped in Loft and guess what I found...more leopard print!!!  This dress was light and flowy. I could wear it now with sandals and add a denim jacket when we have cool mornings and then put it over leggings and boots with a denim jacket when it gets really cold.

I also loved this top from Loft.  It's a t-shirt, but with some added little details to the neckline and around the sleeves that dresses it up a bit.  I could not find the link online, but I'm sure it is in stores.

I figured it would be cute with shorts now and with jeans later on.

My last stop was White House | Black Market.  Their stuff is more dressy, but so pretty!  I love the cold shoulder look and this wine colored top with the ruffles was super soft.  I love the color because it looks more Fall, but it has short sleeves so I won't be dying of a heat stroke!

And then I tried on this off the shoulder top and fell in love with it.  It is long enough to wear with leggings and loose enough to be comfortable.

It could probably be worn on or off the shoulders, but I loved it off the shoulders because it made me feel like Penny from Dirty Dancing!

Y'all like my side-by-side comparison?  Ha!  Seriously though, so cute and it's the perfect colors...red and black.  Just in time for football season.  Go DAWGS!!!

That's it for my Fashion Fix this week.  We hope everyone has a wonderful Labor Day weekend and we will see you back here on Tuesday of next week!
