Fashion Fix: Ways to Wear Over-the-Knee Boots + BIG SALE ALERT

Happy Friday, Friends!!!  Today's blog topic is all about over-the-knee boots. Now, before you skip over this post and think over-the-knee boots aren't for you, just hear me out.  I used to think this was a  trend that I could never get into. I thought it was more for the millennials rather than the moms and that over-the-knee boots would be way too cutting edge a bit to daring for my usual mom uniform. However, after I looked into them a bit more I found tons of fun ways to style them.  When our friends at FitFlop asked if we wanted to try a pair I decided to give them a chance and surprisingly, I really love them!  They make your legs look like they go on for days, they are really quite comfortable and they can turn an ordinary outfit into a WOW outfit.  I'm going to share a few different ways to wear over-the-knee boots and be sure to read to the bottom of this post for a BIG SALE ALERT from FitFlop.

Look #1 - With My Mom Uniform
Like most moms, I love wearing leggings, a tunic, and an long cardigan.  Some days I wear it with running shoes, some days with regular boots, but to dress it up just a bit and make everything look a little more pulled together, over-the-knee boots are a perfect option.

Plus, the great thing about these boots is that they are super comfortable and stretchy so great for being on the run all day.

Look #2 - With Jeans
If I'm not wearing leggings I'm almost always in denim.  I love jeans and I love any kind of plaid this time of year so I knew I wanted to style my boots with two of my favorites.

So cute, right?!  Well this top was an amazing clearance find for $4 at T.J. Maxx and I couldn't love it more paired with these boots!

Volunteering at the school, meeting a friend for lunch or even during a busy weekend, this outfit will be on repeat!

Look #3 - Dressed up with Faux Fur
I'm pretty obsessed with the faux fur trend right now and love any chance I get to wear my vest.

I'm on the hunt for a longer one, but for now I was so pumped when I saw that these boots matched my faux fur vest perfectly.  Something about over-the-knee boots and fur that just goes together, right?! Girls night, date night or any evening time event would be perfect for this look.

Look #4 - Dressed Up for a Night on the Town
With the holidays right around the corner I know everyone has tons of parties, events and get togethers on their calendars.  I love any excuse to wear leather and sparkles and these over-the-knee boots are great for outfits like this, too.  I just love that they are so versatile and I know I'm going to be able to wear them for so many different occasions.

Now to the exciting part...a BIG sale!  Our friends at FitFlop are having a really BIG sale happening right now and over 100 styles are up to 60% off.  We are big FitFlop fans because we like to look cute and be comfortable and that is exactly what these shoes do.

When I'm not wearing my over-the-knee boots I'm most likely wearing these that some of you may remember from our giveaway not too long ago!

I can't tell you how many people have commented and asked me about these shoes.

They are SO comfortable, so cute and I wear them a ton! They are also part of the sale and are 40% off so it is a great time to grab them!  We've been searching their website and found a lot of fall favorites...especially loving the metallic, blush, and knit athletic shoes!

If we love their boots and fall shoes then we REALLY love their sandals.

I'm super picky on the type of sandals I can wear because my feet hurt so bad if I wear ones with no support. The FitFlop sandals quickly became my favorite this summer.

These Feather Tia sandals are 50% off right now!

I wore mine all summer long!

And my other favorites are these Tia Sandals.

They also come in a ton of different colors including this snake skin option that is on major sale.
I feel like snake skin is like leopard....a neutral that you can wear with just about anything!

I know the weather is cold and no one is thinking about summer shoes right now, but if you like to plan ahead like me, then now is the time to buy!  Especially if you have a cruise, tropical vacation, or are heading anywhere warm over the holidays!

Be sure to stay tuned because we have some other fun styles from FitFlop that we will be sharing in the next few weeks...including some for the guys in your life, too!

We hope everyone has a great weekend!

Fashion Fix {Ways to Wear it - Transitioning to Fall}

This time of year is so hard to dress for.  All around me I'm seeing boots, sweaters, jeans and all things fall, but if I were to actually tried to wear those things right now I'd probably pass out. It's still hovering around 90 degrees here in Atlanta so unless you sit in air conditioning all day (which I don't...hello kids' sports), then dressing in all of the fall trends isn't a reality just yet.

However, I still love to look the part and taylor my outfit choices to the season we are approaching.  One of the biggest things I love about fall are the colors!

I love them all...beautiful oranges, yellows, browns, deep purples, greens and every other pretty shade that fall brings us.

So, when I saw this cute plaid peplum top the other day it just screamed fall to me and I started think about how it would be perfect to wear it now and into true fall when the weather does cool off.

I wore the first look the other day and was chatting with a friend at the baseball fields when she told me I looked just like fall. I laughed and told her that was the look I was going for. It's really all about the fall colors!

So many ways you can wear it!

Look 1: I wore the top with my favorite denim shorts and sandals. I threw this rust colored cardigan for when I was indoors and chilly with the air conditioning and it was perfect for when the sun went down and it cooled off a bit, but it was just as easy to slip the cardigan off and wear the top alone when it was sitting out in the sun at soccer practice that day.

Look 2: As it cools a little bit and I want to wear jeans. This top looks cute with skinny jeans and sandals or even neutral flats.

Look 3: When it really is officially fall weather the top will be great with jeans, the cardigan and booties.

I've pretty much been doing this little trick all week long and will probably be continuing for the next couple of weeks.  A fun fall colored top in a print, stripe or floral with shorts (and maybe a cardigan, if I'm lucky) for now and then wear the same top with jeans and a cardigan for later.  I found some other fun tanks that would be great for now and later!

I shared this picture on Instagram the other day and so many people messaged me about my top. It was a TJ Maxx clearance find at the end of last summer, but again, it fits into my philosophy of wearing tops with fall colors.

Plus, my new James Avery turquoise post earrings have been getting lots of wear so far this fall. They are super light weight, very versatile and a fun pop of color with just about anything I wear. I've been wearing them a bunch with my workout clothes and then with nice outfits, too!  They have a lot of new releases that can help transition outfits into fall! Click HERE to see them all.

My other tip for transitioning to fall is to change up your nail colors from light and bright to darker and more muted colors. I shared some of my favorite shades HERE, but this one I'm currently wearing is called For The Twill Of It and definitely one of my top pics for fall and winter.  It changes color depending on what angle you look at it from green to burgundy to purple and just about everything in between!

We hope everyone has a great weekend.  We'll be glued to the TV watching the updates about Hurricane Florence. So many of my family members are in Wilmington, NC and we are just praying that the damage isn't as bad as they were predicting.

Fashion Fix: Ways to Wear It

Two weeks ago I shared a fun Luxe Tank that can be worn now with shorts and later into fall with jeans, white pants and a jacket.  Here at The Magnolia Mamas, Jen and I are all about wardrobe pieces we can mix and match and get lots of use out of. Well, I'm back today with another find that I just love and have gotten so many compliments on recently!

This dress is one I got about a month ago and have been LOVING it. I've worn it so many times so far because it is so comfortable. It's really light weight and flowy so it just wears well.  Plus, I love that I can wear it now with flip-flops or sandals...

...and later into fall with booties and a denim jacket!

I actually loved it so much that I ordered this purple print also. Just like the blue dress, this one can be worn several different ways!  For now I'm still wearing it alone with sandals because it is so dang hot in Atlanta, but when it starts to cool off I'll add my denim jacket and booties or a cardigan and boots!  One dress. Three ways to wear it.

Old Navy is having a big Labor Day Sale this weekend with 50% off a lot of their dresses so I feel like there are so many other options you could do this with...wear different ways and make them last from now through fall just by adding a sweater or jacket.  Plus, for dresses that are $20 or less, that's such a steal when you think about all the ways you can wear it!

We hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend!!!  See you back here next week!!!

Fashion Fix {Ways to Wear It}

We're excited to start a new little Fashion Fix series here on the blog called Ways to Wear It.  First though, a disclaimer.  We love to post about fashion, style, and wardrobe pieces, but we like to do it with a different twist than most fashion bloggers.

Here's the thing...there are some bloggers who appear to have an unlimited budget, shop at the trendiest spots and always seem to present a perfect outfit.  Don't get us wrong. We love following those bloggers and getting outfit inspiration from them.  However, that isn't really real life and here at The Magnolia Mamas we like to keep things real. So, while we might show you some cute things we ordered from Nordstrom or a pair of shoes that cost a little more than we would regularly spend, we also want to always share super affordable things from regular everyday places.  We're just regular, everyday moms who might toss a cute top in our cart while picking up cleaning supplies at Target or run in Old Navy to grab something cute.

Regular clothes, worn regular ways, for regular moms.  That's our mission!  And I don't know about y'all, but if I'm going to spend money on something I want to know that I'm going to get my money's worth. I want it to be something that I can wear a lot of different ways and this time of year I feel like that is super important. It's still hot, but fall is right around the corner, so I like to find pieces that I'll be able to wear now and easily transition into fall.

And because today only there is such a great deal going on at Old Navy with 30% off your entire purchase, I'm going to share a fun, super affordable item with you! I've been wearing this Luxe tank on repeat.

Just by throwing on a jacket and switching to more neutral shoes it can transition into fall!

And I also love the monochromatic look when layered with this pink field jacket (also from Old Navy). An outfit like this is perfect for running errands, volunteering at school, or driving carpool.

I LOVE this pink jacket and wore it a ton last spring and feel like I'll keep getting lots of use out of it this fall, too.

But for now, it's still HOT!!!  And that means I'm wearing this tank knotted with my fav denim shorts and trying to survive until cooler temps arrive.
