Friday Favorites

Happy Friday!!!  Even though it is summer, I still live for the weekends when our schedules are a little more relaxed and we aren't quite as on-the-go.  This weekend we're celebrating my favorite little guy's birthday, so it will be a fun and exciting weekend.

Today, like most Fridays, I'm linking up with some of our favorite bloggers to share our Friday Favorites!

A few weeks ago I got an Apple watch and I'm loving it. I'd been wanting one for a while, but wasn't sure if I wanted to commit and buy one because I wasn't sure how I would like it.  Well, the Mr. ended up winning one at a golf tournament so when he texted me to ask if I'd like one (because he already had one) I jumped at the chance!

I'm still figuring it out and I'm sure there are so many more things I have to learn about it, but so far it's been fun. I love receiving texts on it if I don't have my phone near me and I also like the fitness tracking part of it so far!

On Monday I shared about our houseboat trip and also these cute tanks I found.  I've had so many questions about them and both my girls and I can't stop wearing them so they are definitely a favorite this week.

These girls tanks are so cute (only $6!!!) and so appropriate for summer.  Sadly, our kids start back to school in just two short weeks and we are all digging in our heels.  We'd love to stay on summer vacay for a little while longer!

I'm still wearing my favorite Target tanks over and over.  They are so soft, super cute with the peplum  ruffle it adds a little bit of something extra.  Plus, they are under $15!

We've been doing some major projects at our house including our basement that is almost done and a big yard project.  When we bought our house, part of the appeal was the property. It has a small creek running through it and while we loved the water and all of the privacy, it felt like a jungle.  The landscaping is happening in two phases, but the first phase is done including the removal of trees and a creek restoration.

Before:

There was a small foot bridge in place, but since we first moved in I dreamt of a nice bridge with sides.  I pictured my kids running across it as they head to the other side of our yard.  While we were on vacation the Mr. surprised me with a bridge with sides!  I was so surprised because he kept it a total secret, but it made me so happy and it is definitely my favorite part of our landscaping right now.

After:

This week my sweet Blondie has been on a week long beach vacation with a friend.  She was so excited to go, but the first part of the week was rough.  She kept FaceTiming me crying because she was so homesick.  It broke my heart, but I knew she would be fine because they had so many fun things planned.  Well, as the week has gone on she's gotten into her groove and is having so much fun. My favorite texts this week are of her sweet, smiling, happy face!  So much better than her tears!

Last weekend we got a lot of things done around the house including hanging more artwork to the art gallery wall in our playroom.  I'd had some pieces framed and sitting on my dining room table to hang for months!  This wall is one of my very favorite spaces in my home.  My kids get so proud to see their art work displayed (some dating back to their first day of preschool!) and it is so much better than having them all just sit in a closet.  Plus, it's the perfect way to fill a big, blank wall!

Last, but not least this week are my new magnolia wreaths!  I'm totally in love with them and can't get enough. Be sure to check back next week because I'll be sharing the tutorial because these beauties were a DIY!

This is 36

Happy Monday, Friends!  On Friday I celebrated my 36th birthday.  I'm just going to go ahead and tell you that I'm including ages 36 to 38 in the "mid-thirties" range and that I'm not going to jump to the "late thirties" age classification until 39.  Can we all just agree that that makes total sense?!

You know when you are a mom that your birthday is pretty much like any other day. Only on this day I actually put on a real outfit instead of my typical athleisure.  Because I always feel better when I have on real clothes.

I stayed busy with running errands, getting ready for my mom to come in town, and volunteering at the school.  I came home from the grocery store to see this gorgeous poinsettia sitting on my front porch from a dear friend.  It is so beautiful and was such a sweet surprise.

It was accompanied with this card and it totally made me laugh out loud.  Funny because it is so true!

Blondie's BFF and I share the same birthday and her party was that evening.  They had a big girls night out planned with some friends and I laughed when I realized there is nothing to make you feel older than when your 7 year old is dressed cuter than you and headed out for a GNO to celebrate her bestie's birthday.

#momlife

Seriously though, I had fun helping her get ready and seeing how excited she was for a big night out.  And how cute are those leggings?!?!?  I need a pair in my size.

After dropping her off I enjoyed relaxing on the porch with my favorite little guy and waiting on my brother's family to come over for dinner.

Oh, and the most beautiful flower arrangement was delivered right about this time from my Dad.  They are so pretty and are bringing some serious gorgeous color to my kitchen!

We went to dinner and then came back home for dessert, I opened a few gifts and I was in bed earlier than I have been in a long time.

I was super excited about my electric wine opener.  Such a fun gift and a total game changer when it comes to opening wine bottles.  My family knows me well and knows my love of wine!

Really though, if you don't have one of these, you don't know what you are missing.  This is going to be my new favorite gift to give for all my fellow wine loving friends!

I don't know why, but this birthday hit me a little harder than any other that I have had.  Over the past few months I've been trying to really take time to take care of myself.  One night the Mr. walked in and saw me with a mask on my face, my teeth whitening trays in and I was painting my nails. He just laughed and asked what in the world I was getting ready for and my response was, "36!"

I have definitely noticed a difference in my looks, my health, my skin, my outlook on life... everything!  I want to take care of myself and do some "preventative maintenance" now so that when I do hit my 40's I'm not wishing I had started sooner.

That got me thinking and I decided I would start a little series here on the blog to share with all the other mamas the steps I'm taking to help me look AND feel my best.  Basically a reminder to be sure to take care of you.  Because as moms, if we don't take care of ourselves, there is no one else that is going to do it for us.

I'm planning to share on topics from skincare to working out and everything in-between.  And listen...I totally get it!  I am the worst about putting everyone else's needs in front of my own.  When my kids were younger taking care of myself meant remembering to eat and trying to find time to shower.  However, my youngest is 5 now and I am finally to a point where I can take a little time to put myself first.  I'm hoping this series will just serve as a reminder to all moms to take a little time for yourself now and then, no matter what stage you are at and no matter how old your kids are.  I'm excited to share some fun products and tips so be sure to be on the lookout for the first post in the series coming very soon!

Friday Favorites

Woo Hoo!!!  It's Friday!!!  We've had a busy, but fun week and are super excited about the weekend ahead.  Today we are linking up with some of our favorite bloggers to share our Friday Favorites.

So the weather had been pretty amazing here.  It's warm, but it feels like fall so I've been so happy to bust out some of my fall clothes and mix it in with the summer. One of my favorite outfits recently has been this:

Also on this day I wore my new monogram necklace from Unlikely Market.  I love it so much and right now you can use the code MM15 to receive 15% off your orders.  These would make GREAT Christmas gifts!!!

My next favorite are all of the adorable preschool projects my little guy brings home!  I have a fridge full of them and it makes me so happy to see him so proud of his work.  Today he came home with a haunted house (gingerbread house style) and couldn't wait to start eating the candy off of it!

It also makes me thankful for this last year of him in preschool before Kindergarten and I am trying to savor every moment.  Especially compared to the mountains of expectations for my sweet 4th grader. I just know it all goes so quickly and these kids are expected to grow up too fast, in my opinion.  I guess because of that still having one in preschool is a major favorite of mine this week!

Last weekend we finally made it to a pumpkin patch and we were able to get pumpkins for our porch.  October has just been such a busy month for us, but I honestly couldn't bring myself to buy pumpkins at the grocery store, even though I really wanted some for the porch.  Now I feel like the porch is looking complete and ready for Halloween!

Last week when the weather started cooling off I started my hunt for a new pair of booties.  I really was leaning towards the Toms wedge ones.  I decided to make a quick stop in to try on a few other pairs before making my decision and ended up getting these!  I love the style and the color.  Plus, they are comfortable enough to wear all day, which was my main goal.

My others had a heel that was so high that I couldn't wear them for very long.  I love that these have a heel, but not a very high one so I can wear them from morning to night without my feet screaming at me.  I can't tell you how many complements I have gotten on them. I love that the cognac color matches pretty much everything and I'm obsessed with the detail on the back!

Lastly I am super excited about going to see some of our favorite friends today!  I'm flying to Florida to meet up with them and we will all be heading to the GA/FL game together.  We are obviously UGA fans and they love the Gators.  We've had lots of fun adventures together, but never a rivalry football game, so it should be a fun weekend!

Fashion Fix: Runchkins

Happy mail is fun no matter what age you are! L.C. has become quite the fashionista lately and changes her outfit no less than three times a day. She has also become quite opinionated on what she wears. My little fashion plate was so excited to try out Runchkins - a curated boutique clothing service that sends affordable boutique kids fashion straight to your door step.

Think Stitch Fix or Le Tote, but for babies and toddlers.

To say L.C. was excited about this new found fashion discovery was an understatement.

She loved looking at all the pieces picked out for her and was eager to wear them all right away.

To learn more about Runchkins and their amazing services (including an awesome gift/party option) see our complete review on Savvy Sassy Moms HERE

The purple, the puppies, the FRINGE - they nailed her favorites!

What trendy styles are your little ones loving right now?
