At the beginning of the year we both made the commitment in our New Year's resolutions to be healthier. We have made tremendous strides to make better choices for both us and our little ones.
Now that doesn't mean we gave up donuts or anything crazy like that (seriously that's crazy talk), but it does mean that we've been a little more pro-active in fueling our bodies with healthier, better balanced options.
One of the toughest challenges we have faced is getting our little ones to eat more vegetables. Especially green vegetables. We've come up with so many sneaky and creative ways to sneak in those dreaded green veggies that even the CIA would be proud.
One of our favorite tricks is to sneak in veggies in our smoothies or juice. Spinach? Yuck, never! But mix it with a fruit here or there, make it a juice, and they never know they just received their daily dose of greens. Winning!
If your schedules are anything like ours though, sometimes it's tough to stop and make your own smoothies or juice. We know it doesn't take too long, and the benefits of juicing more than make up for the extra few minutes it takes to make your own juice at home, but at the end of the day sometimes you need to just grab something and go.
We were so excited when we found these healthy children's juices from Daily Greens.
These little Half Pint juices are great for just grabbing out of the fridge for breakfast or a snack, and are just the right serving size for little ones.
The Half Pints come in three flavors, and we decided to give a test run to all three to see if any struck a cord with our kids. Peel Out, Berry Tasty, and Green Thing all sound like delicious options, but I am not going to lie, I was shocked when Cute chose Green Thing as his drink of choice. He drank most of it in one sitting before determining he was full. Full of energy is more like it.
Little Cute is new to anything juice related, and jumps at the chance to eat or drink anything brother is having. Cute wasn't about to give up his juice so baby girl got to pick out her own option. She went for the Berry Tasty flavor. It sounded so good mommy might have given it a little taste. You know, for quality control purposes. All I have to say is Mmmm.
Little Cute seemed a little hesitant upon her first sips. If you've never juiced before, its definitely an acquired taste. But she quickly latched onto the idea that this juice thing wasn't so bad, and before you knew we had one happy toddler with a belly full of quality fruits and vegetables.
Little Mama, Boo Boo, and Blondie are split on their juicing experience. Little Mama mentioned her Green Thing was a little "vegetabley". :) Again, its an acquired taste, but soon they were on board too.
Packed with vitamins and minerals that are essential to help growing little bodies and developing little minds, we love that Half Pints provide us the reassurance that we have made a healthy choice for our family, as well as providing us with the convenience of being able to grab and go something healthy for meals or snack time.
Do you or your children drink smoothies? Do you juice? Do they have a favorite flavor or combo?
