Carrie Beth's little ones started back-to-school last week, and this week was our turn. This morning I took my little baby boy to his first day of pre-Kindergarten. Where did the time go?!?
Cute was so excited to start back-to-school, and couldn't get to the school fast enough. We love giving little gifts throughout the year and this year he wanted to be super involved in what his classmates received as their back-to-school gifts. Last year we created some fun apple themed gifts but this year he changed it up. He must have been in a candy mood because his idea of back-to-school involved gummy worms. And he was not to be deterred.
I really had to do some brainstorming on how to make gummy worms a back-to-school gift, and then came up with a book theme. As the theme progressed, we both became excited about what we came up with.
There are tons of back-to-school books available, but we decided to give Cute's teachers "This School Year Will Be The Best" and "There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Books!". Cute loves the "Old Lady" books series so he was so excited to share these books with his class.
Cute picked out this fun wrapping paper and I created a printable to place on top after we wrapped it. (See below for downloadable version.)
From there I created coordinating mini gift labels for Cute's classmates and the inspirational gummy worms.
We cute, hole punched, and found fun string and twine to use for the gummy worm gift bags.
Cute made sure to be in charge of gummy worm division and bag stuffing. There was only the occasional taste test for quality control, and he was so excited to share them with his friends.
We tied up 16 little "Bookworm" goodie bags and the whole project only took about 20 minutes from start to finish. I loved that Cute now has a voice in what he wants to share, and enjoys the thought that goes into gift giving.
Here are downloads to print your own Back-to-School Bookworm Labels.
