Friday Favorites

We made it to Friday!  Getting through the first week of school can be kind of rough.  Not only are the kids adjusting to their new schedule, but the mamas are, too.  For someone like me who is not a morning person, I couldn't be happier to go to bed tonight and not have to set an alarm.

Today I'm going to share a few favorites from this week and link up with some of our favorite bloggers for Friday Favorites.

Just before school started, Jen and I were trying to squeeze in some last minute fun for the kids so we went to a local trampoline park.  After we grabbed lunch at our favorite, Chick-fil-a, and while we were finishing up we looked over and the boys were taking fake selfies.  They weren't holding a camera or phone, just pretending that they had one.  Well, Jen gave them her phone and they proceeded to take what might have been the funniest selfies ever.  I snapped a quick pic of them in action and we were dying laughing.  We have to say, as bloggers' kids, they come by it honest.

On Saturday night the Mr. and I got all dolled up and went out on a date. I can't remember the last time we did that just us.  We have work events to attend or do things with friends, but for it to be just the two of us is pretty rare.  We went to a nice dinner, did a little shopping, and ended the night with margaritas.  It was super fun and just what we needed.

My green dress is an oldie, but still one of my favorites. I've worn it to weddings with fancy jewelry and shoes, to the beach with flip-flops or on a date night with wedges.  It's so versatile and I love solid colored dresses like this that can be worn just about anywhere. Mine is from years ago, but there are similar ones HERE, HERE, HERE and HERE.

On Monday the girls went off to school and I think one of the hardest things as a mom is to send our kids off on the bus and spend the next 7 1/2 hours wondering how their day is going.  Is their teacher making them feel welcome, are they making new friends, who are they sitting with at lunch...  The absolute BEST thing though and a definite favorite of mine this week was seeing them bound off the bus that afternoon with big smiles, telling me all I needed to know.  I'm super hopeful for a great school year for them this year!

Back to school also means back to volunteering.  I love being able to help out at the school and in my kids classes, but it can be a lot.  This week we ramped back up with room mom responsibilities, PTA committees and everything else I can't say no to. :-)

I love my Lilly Pulitzer Callahan shorts.

A few Friday's ago I shared my monogrammed tank from Preppy & Personalized and mentioned that I'd ordered the youth sizes for the girls, too.  Blondie wore hers to school yesterday and looked darling in it.  She also has been loving her new converse, which happened to match perfectly!

And last, but not least, for my favorites this week is spending time with this little guy.  He will be in the "Young 5's" class at the preschool so he has one last year before heading to Kindergarten.  He doesn't start school until Monday so I've been trying to soak up my time with him this week.  We've done lunch dates, he's been my errand running partner, and I'm just really trying to soak it up because next year he'll off and gone all day with the big kids!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Luke Bryan {Kick the Dust Up Tour}

Happy Monday Friends.  We hope you all had a fantastic weekend.  Ours started off with a very rare date night out and we had the BEST time!

Last week the Mr. was offered tickets to the Luke Bryan concert and I immediately said that I'd love to go.  We had two extra tickets and knew that Jen and her Mr. Cute would love to come with us.

We both arranged for babysitters, threw on our boots, and hopped in the truck for a fun night out.  See, not only do we like to dress our kids in theme wear, but we love it ourselves, too.  Boots were a must for the country concert and there was no doubt that we'd take one of our hubby's trucks. ;-)

After stopping for a quick dinner on the way downtown, we made it to the concert and made our way to find our seats.  We were totally shocked when we kept walking down and down and down to find our seats in the very front row.  Seriously!  Such great seats and such a wonderful view.

We missed the first opening act, but did get there in time to see Randy Houser, who was also opening up for Luke Bryan.

Then it was time for Luke to hit the stage and the crowd went wild.

He is such fun performer and puts on a great show.  He has everyone on their feet, dancing, singing and having a good time.  He dances a lot, moves all over the stage and really engages with the crowd.

I love all music and being able to see performers live makes music that much more fun.  We also love the people watching.  Everyone there was having a good time and you can tell some people are die hard fans.

By the time we got home, it was WAY after my bedtime and my ears were still ringing from the loud music, but the fun night was one I wouldn't have traded for anything.  While I love being able to have some adult time with the Mr. and friends, I always love coming home and seeing my kiddos the next morning.  I was happy to see these sweet notes and pictures they had left for me.  They had a fun night with Gigi, we had a fun night out, and it was a win-win all around!

Date Night

Today was a fun Saturday, and to cap it off tonight Mr. Cute and I were able to sneak away for a very rare date night. We always say we need to take time away more, but life often gets in the way. Plus having seriously cute fun loving kids is hard to leave behind, right? :)

Our first order of business was to eat a meal at a place that does not have a playground attached to it. We chose a local restaurant - Salt Factory. If you live, or visit, the northern part of metro Atlanta it is a must try. There are two locations - Downtown Woodstock, and Historic Roswell. We've been to both and they are delicious with a yummy drink selection and a fun laid back atmosphere.

On this visit I enjoyed the London Broil and Mr. Cute enjoyed the Ahi Tuna.

We wrapped it up with a decadent Brownie Cake, but we must have been so entranced by it's chocolatey goodness that we didn't even stop to take a photo.

After we rolled ourselves out of the restaurant, we made our way to the movies to see a non-animated movie. Not a fan of sic-fi flicks or anything to do with dinosaurs, we opted for comedy and saw Trainwreck. Complete with a large popcorn.

THE STORY:
A raunchy yet heartfelt comedy from director Judd Apatow about Amy (Amy Schumer), a commitment-phobic binge drinker living in New York City, who must reevaluate her feelings about intimate relationships when a sports doctor pursues a romance with her.

REVIEW:
We laughed non-stop! The movie was exactly as described and definitely had its raunchy moments, but it was also a cute story and we thought Amy Schumer was hilarious. We hadn't really seen much about the movie before we bought the tickets, but it was funny how many people were in the movie. There were tons of sports stars sprinkled throughout the film, and my husband loved this.

Lebron James was one of the surprises for us and played a fairly big role. James was also super funny throughout the movie. He made fun of himself a lot and had a very likable character.

Overall we had a great time seeing Trainwreck and I would definitely recommend it for a fun date night out as long as you don't mind a little naughty humor here and there.

Have you been to the movies lately? What did you see?
