Valentine's Day Style on Amazon

We blinked and it's already Wednesday. How did that happen?! Usually this time of year seems to drag on. The post holiday lull in combination with frigid weather usually makes us longing for warmer weather and Spring days. But this year, between the kids and house projects, we look at our calendars and realize it's almost the end of January. Bless those tiny people and their 1,004,594 activities and hours of Common Core math homework for distracting us from the blah that is January.

And with February on the horizon we get a little giddy. With its days filled of Super Bowl excitement, all things hearts and love, a break from school, and the hope of warmer days just around the corner - we can't help but feel excitement.

A month with all those fun things needs to be celebrated. And you know how we like to celebrate - with theme wear. While we were shopping at our favorite store (Amazon) we couldn't resist adding a little Valentine's Day attire to our Prime order. I don't know why we were surprised, but Amazon just has so many cute options! It was hard to narrow it down to just one (or, ahem, three).

  1. XOXO Shirt - Love the cute buffalo check pattern of the hearts. Only $13!

  3. Love Tee - Has an option to have your mini match you! Comes in two colors and under $16.
  4. Heart Sweater - Several color options.
  5. Long Sleeve Heart Elbow Tee - Comes in three colors and is monogrammable.

Easy DIY Valentine's Day Pillows

There's nothing we love more than a holiday that celebrates love. We know for some people this is a completely cheezy unnecessary holiday. We are not those people.

We go way over the top and celebrate February with everything we've got. We promote love. We promote kindness. We wear it loud and proud, and we showcase it from our front porches to our back porches, and every space in between.

We love love.

Plus it's like ten degrees out, football season is officially over, and that darn groundhog predicted we have six more months of Winter. What else do we have to live for?

When we pulled out our Valentine's Day decor this year we noticed we were a little lacking in the throw pillow department. Now I'm not one to shy away from a good trip to Home Goods, or (my personal favorite) Pottery Barn to stock up on some adorable themed throw pillows, but this year I decided to see if I could do a little something different. Make my own!

I ordered some plain white pillow covers (I found some cheaper ones after the fact, but these worked great), and let my creativity flow.

Well, really I raided my kids craft closet and went with the easiest thing I could think of. My goal was to create a quick and easy DIY pillow without breaking the bank in case my pillow creation skills turned out to be severely lacking and I should have just headed to Pottery Barn in the first place.

After I was finished I was pleasantly surprised. The Valentine's Day pillows were way easier than I thought they would be! With in only a few minutes they were completely put together and ready to place on my porch!

After thinking about it, you can totally recreate these pillows for less that $5 and the options on what you can do are endless. To learn more details and see the quick and easy instructions on how I made these DIY Valentine's Day pillows pop over to our post on Savvy Sassy Moms

Quick and easy DIY Valentine's Day pillows. Less than $5 to make. Less than 5 minutes to create!

Now share with us what design you would make on your own pillow!
(I have plenty of extra covers and a lot more throw pillow love to share!)

Fashion Fix: Wear Your Love Story

Thank you James Avery for sponsoring this post. All thoughts, ideas and opinions are my own.

Valentine's Day has never really been a big holiday that the Mr. and I celebrate.  When we were in high school and college we'd go to dinner and get each other a card or something small, but that was about it.  Now that we have kids though, our focus has shifted.  Like everything, Valentine's Day is more fun with children!  We like to make it all about our kids and our love for them.  Last year I shared the idea of little love notes that I left for my kids each day of February leading up to Valentine's Day. I shared with them reasons I loved them and they absolutely adored this.  They all saved them and I find them looking at them from time to time which is just the sweetest.

Even though this stage of our lives are busy, active and can be exhausting at times, it's sweet little moments and memories like this that ground me and make me realize just how blessed I am.  For as long as I could remember all I wanted to be was a mom.  Some women have great career ambitions or lofty goals they want to succeed at, but for me, I really always knew I just wanted to be a mom.

I absolutely adore these three and feel so lucky to get to be their mom.  The Mr. and I always joke how boring life would be without them.  They make us laugh, keep us on our toes, and bring more joy than we ever could have imagined.

When James Avery invited us to see their Valentine's Day new releases I was so excited. I had spent sometime checking out their catalog and found so many pieces that represented my love for my kids.

I'm so happy I was able to see their jewelry in person because some things look totally different in pictures than they do in person.

I absolutely adored these Vintage Alphabet Pendants. Because each of my kids' names start with the same letter I considered getting an "H" pendant with the heart.

Then I happened to see this black double wrap leather bracelet and knew this is what I would get!  Most James Avery pieces are silver and more traditional in style, but I loved that this was a little different. It felt very trendy and I knew I would be able to personalize it to be meaningful to me.

I considered some of the many charms they offer, but then an idea popped in my head when I spotted these colorful gemstone and enhancer beads.

The sweet woman working at the store helped me choose beads that represented each of my three kids' birthstones.

Then she explained to me the charms and beads would be soldered on (free of charge) and helped me to arrange the beads how I wanted them.

I decided to add one more thing to my bracelet and went with the Vintage Type "h" charm.  Since each of my kids' names begin with an H I knew this would be the final touch.

I went back two days later to pick up my bracelet and could not love it more.  I love that I was able to personalize it the way I wanted.  It truly tells my love story.  Each time I look down at it I see a bead for each of my children and it makes me smile.

I feel like this bracelet is more than just jewelry. It is a way for me to wear my love story!

James Avery offers so many ways to tell your love story. It is so interesting to see and hear all of the ways customers use jewelry in a way that is meaningful to them.  THIS STORY was the February customer story of forever...a tear jerker for sure.  It is sad, but a must watch because it is also so very sweet.  So special to see how James Avery plays a big role in remembering a loved one.

Valentine's Day Style

Happy Friday everyone and happy February!!
As always, we are so excited for the weekend ahead, but even more so that it's February! February means we are one step closer to Spring! We are SO READY!!!

We have so many fun things in the works for February and who doesn't love a month that celebrates love and kindness? We're spreading those good vibes where ever we go!

And we're wearing them too!

Today we are linking up with some of our favorite bloggers for Friday Favorites and we are focusing on our favorite Valentine's Day styles. There are so many fun items to get in the spirit of love.

VALENTINE'S DAY STYLE

The easiest way to show a little celebration of love is by throwing on a fun tee. Our girl Kathryn from Feathered Nest Boutique always makes us the most fun little holiday tops, and she totally delivered for Valentine's Day.

Last Valentine's Day we were decked out in these "Bless Your Heart" sweatshirts, and this adorable "Pucker Up Buttercup" baseball tee. That's the thing we love most about Kathryn's stuff...it's all a little cheeky and fun.

The "Pucker Up" tee we couldn't resist, and Jen grabbed one for herself this year.

And because we love a good baseball style tee, we snagged a few others to show off our Valentine's Day spirit.

And we wouldn't be true Southerners if we didn't add a monogram or two in the mix...

Carrie Beth's gingham tee is so fun and we love that it can be worn for so many things. (Hello - red, black & white! We might know a football team or two we can cheer on in this tee.)

But Jen just couldn't resist the scalloped monogram design with the heart pattern. Just darling!

This "XOXO Y'all" tee is one of our favorites too! Kathryn just gets us.

Tees and sweats! The mom uniform...but just a whole lot cuter!

And speaking of cozy sweats...

We just couldn't resist this darling fuzzy heart striped sweatshirt

It's the perfect weighted sweatshirt for this time of year, and we love that it is just a little subtle nod to the holiday. We have fun plans to wear this beyond Valentine's Day, but it's fun to throw it in the mix.

(Sorry for the messy guest bath, but #reallife. I stood on a stool so you guys can see it all. I need a full length mirror...)

I sized up to a medium on this sweatshirt to make it more tunic like. I typically wear an xs, but as an afterthought if I had gotten my correct size it would be super cute layers on top of a fun plaid or gingham shirt.

Hmmm... Would it be wrong to order a second one in my normal size?

This week if you took a peek at our Insta-stories you saw that we are doing a little fun something for Valentine's Day with James Avery Jewelry. Stay tuned for more on that next week, but when on the way to the event I got a little sidetracked when I saw all this...

| Black Heart Sweater | Red Love Sweater |
That Love Sequin Sweater is just too darling. Sequins will get us every single time.

I didn't have time to take more pics, but you better believe we added a cute thing or two to our Valentine's Day wardrobe. Here were some of the other cute Valentine's worthy things I spotted though...

And what's a holiday without a fun little accessory or two? How darling are these heart earrings?!

We just LOVE them! We will chat more about all things jewelry next week, but we just couldn't resist sharing these.

We're sure we will sneak in a new find here or there, but share with us some of your favorite Valentine's Day style finds!

Happy weekend friends!
