Baseball Bedroom

I've been on a roll recently with some house projects and refreshing a few rooms here and there. I was happy to knock out the girls' rooms (HERE and HERE) and recently updated my patio which I will share soon, too!

One room that has been hanging over my head is my son's baseball room. I redid his room a while back and he's been loving it.

He had navy bedding, so I just switched out some of the accessories to go with the baseball theme.

There were still a few things I wanted to accomplish including a gallery wall. I went to Board and Brush with some baseball mamas last month and made a customized sign to include in his room. This forced me to sort through photos, collect some other items and finally get it all hung!

I got the large star and the H at Hobby Lobby, the baseball sign was a Facebook Marketplace find and the pictures I got printed from CVS. Super easy and I feel like I can add to it with more photos or memorabilia. He's so happy with it and told me when this wall gets filled up we should move to covering the other walls!

I do have another picture ready to add to it though. A few weeks ago we were at the Braves game we happened to be at the right place at the right time and he was asked to give the official "play ball" announcement on the field. He was SO excited and as soon as he came off the field he asked if we could add that picture to his baseball wall. :-)

We made a few other updates over the past couple months including his shelves that are getting overloaded with trophies, bobble heads and game balls!

He proudly displayed his bobble head collection here!

My dad gave him the glove that was his as a kid and he picked out a special baseball from his basket to put in the glove.

We also moved this small table and chairs to his room when we redid the playroom. He loves to draw so this is the perfect spot for that!

I'd like to think this room is "done" and although I'm sure there will continue to be some little chances here and there, I feel like I can finally check this one off my list!

Tween Bedroom Makeover

A few weeks ago I shared that we were redoing my daughter's room and it's finally done! I've been so excited to put the finishing touches on it so I could share all the details!

Just to recap, she wanted her room to be peach/rose gold and teal/aqua. We found these color palettes as inspiration and went with it!

We had so much fun shopping for all the things. I found a lot the bedding, rug, pillows and frames at Tuesday Morning and then we checked out Hobby Lobby and got a lot of the other fun accessories there.

A few weeks ago I shared how we transformed a plain full length mirror into this pretty one with flowers for her room.

As for furniture we got her a new bed and dresser. She loved the upholstered look and so we decided on this bed from Pier One. It's so beautiful in person and I love the nail heads on it.

She also wanted one of these big knitted blankets so instead of buying one my amazingly talented friend, J, came over to help her make it herself!

The dresser is also from Pier One and it is really nicely made. We hung the monogrammed sign that she made at Board and Brush above it and I love that it is one of the first things you see when you walk in her room!

I kept her side table and desk because it was already painted the correct color and just used spray paint to paint the desk chair.

I found the sheets and bed skirt on Amazon and LOVE them both. I've never seen this kind of bed skirt and it was SO easy to put on. I did it by myself and didn't have to worry with lifting up the mattress. I will never use another type of bed skirt!

The sheets are from California Design Den and area also available on Amazon HERE. They are such a great value and are so soft. They are 100% cotton and remind me of expensive luxury hotel sheets. They are so nice!

She really wanted to have a lot of succulents and flowers in her room so we made sure to add those touches here and there.

I also love that she picked out some positive and motivational accessories. It totally goes along with her personality and drive!

I love the way her room turned out and more importantly she loves it. It feels like a more grown up space than what she had before, but still girly and really just so her!

Best of all it didn't take any major changes. Paint color stayed the same, curtains stayed the same and there were only a few furniture changes. It forced us to really clean out, organize, and purge though, which felt great!

I'm still putting a few finishing touches on her little sister's room, but will be sure to share that as soon as it's done!

Girls Bedroom Makeovers + DIY Flower Mirror

We're coming at you with two home decor posts in one week! Yesterday Jen shared about her kitchen remodel and today I'm talking bedrooms. My oldest decided a while back that for her birthday this year she wanted to redo her room. I was excited about this because it means I get to decorate a room! She has also recently declared that she thinks she wants to explore the world of interior design as a career so she has been really on board with helping plan her new room.

She had a lot of ideas swirling around in her head so the first thing I did was set her up on Pinterest to search, browse, and pin everything her heart desired. I always do this when I'm getting ready to do any space because I feel like it is a great way to collect all your ideas in one spot and it also helps with looking for trends in things that catch your eye.

She originally wanted to do blush pink and black with gold accents, but that would mean repainting her walls and that is something I really didn't want to do. So, we started talking about other color combos and she decided to go with aqua/teal and peach/rose gold. I love it! We found these two palette inspirations and went with it!

Because we are buying some new furniture for Big Sister, that means Little Sister gets her hand-me-downs. Which also means we kind of get to do a mini-bedroom refresh for her, too! Last week I took the girls to Board and Brush to make signs for their rooms.

They had so much fun loved it just as much as I did. Each of them picked something that is so very them and I was super impressed with how well their signs turned out.

I couldn't wait to come home and look at everything together. I'm pretty sure I jumped up and down when I saw how perfect it was all going to be.

While they were off school last week though I knew I wanted us to complete one little DIY project with Big Sis that she had found on Pinterest. She is all about plants right now. She wanted flowers, plants and succulents to be incorporated in her room and found a cute idea to dress up a plain full length mirror.

I'm pretty sure this mirror is one that was mine in college and was just as plain as it could be. First up we taped off the mirror part so we could paint it white.

Then she picked out two bouquets of artificial flowers that matched the colors she wanted it use in her room. We pulled off all of the flowers from the stems (Tip - the usually pop right off if you give them a little tug) and just had to snip a little of the extra plastic off to make them flat on the back.

Then I just used hot glue to attach them to the opposite corners of the mirror.

So easy and dressed it up so nicely! Here it is laying on her new bedspread (still waiting on her headboard to arrive), but I think the colors look so pretty!

For now I just have it sitting on the ledge of the baseboard in her room, but may use these Command velcro strips to hang it once I know where everything is going to go in the room.

I asked Little Sis if she wanted to do something similar to the full length mirror in her room and she gave me a quick, "no thanks" without even hesitating. Just made me laugh because those two couldn't be more different.

I have a few other projects happening for both of their rooms and can't wait to share the finished products as soon as it all comes together!

Boy's Baseball Room {Inspiration}

It's safe to say my little guy is baseball obsessed. He is into his second season of playing and his first game of the spring season was last weekend. He played great and I was totally that proud mom yelling from the bleachers! He had awesome hits, great fielding (for a 5 year old), and got the first game ball.

He asks everyday if he has baseball and if he doesn't have a game or a practice he wants me out in the driveway practicing with him. Because I see how much he loves it, I've pretty much become baseball obsessed myself, too.

A few months ago he mentioned that he wished he could have baseball stuff in his room so I made him a deal and told him we'd switch out the nautical decor for baseball stuff. He was over the moon. Then life happened and while the idea keeps hanging around in my head, I haven't actually done anything to keep good on my promise.

He's lived in a nautical room since hew as a baby. I did a nautical nursery for him and then when we moved to our new house I changed things up a bit, but still kept the nautical theme since I already had tons of stuff.

The good news is, since his quilt, curtains, walls, etc. are all blue and red I can easily switch out the "boat stuff" as he calls it for the "cool baseball stuff" he wants.

Last week when I was browsing Goodwill for a project I'm working on (more on that next week), I came across this cute baseball print! It just needs a new frame, but it was less than $4 so I was so excited to find it. Y'all know I love a good deal! I'm also heading to one of my favorite kid consignment sales tomorrow so I'm hoping to find a few things there.

Last night I spent some time searching the internet and I found that Pottery Barn Kids has some adorable baseball stuff right now.

I'm loving this baseball pin-board and trying to find a way to justify buying it for his room. It's a little pricey, but OH SO CUTE!

This metal MLB sign is just calling for me. I LOVE mixing antique looking things into our home and I this metal sign has me swooning. Thinking this would look super cute hanging over his bed or as part of a gallery wall!

I've already decided I'm ordering these little baseball knobs. They come two to a set and they are on major sale right now so I'm going to switch them out for the knobs on his current dresser.

He had a cute little sailboat lamp in his room that needs to be replaced and I loved this wooden lamp shaped like a bat and the cute baseball shade.

He saw this one as I was searching for stuff last night though and loved the stacked baseball lamp, so we may end up with this one instead, which is still super cute.

I've been using just a plain navy quilt that I bought at Target a few years ago with the sailboat pillow shams. I'm going to switch those out for the navy shams that came with his quilt and just plan to get some cute throw pillows like this one to add to his bed.

I also scrolled through Pinterest and found tons of cute ideas. Boo-Boo actually loved looking with me and would comment on just about everything he saw. He got really excited when I kept pinning stuff because he asked if that meant it was the list of what we were getting. Then when he saw me pinning baseball mom stuff he started making gagging noises and told me he did not want those things in his room. You can see all my fun baseball pins HERE. His very favorites were this baseball wall and the baseball diamond painted in the yard. I might just have to do that this summer.

I'll continue to share what I find and will certainly post about the final outcome of his baseball room in a few weeks!
