Hurray, it's May!!! The countdown to Summer is ON! We have four more weeks until school is out and we feel all sorts of good about that. The next month is crazy with all the end of the year stuff going on, but listen there's always time for a little reading here and there right?
Does the End of Year school letter count???
We love kicking off the month with Book Club, and this month we read some goodies!
And if reading isn't your thing, Jen will be happy to stay behind, drink more wine and discuss Scandal with you. Just started season 4 and O.M.G.! I've happily logged some extra gym time just to catch an extra few minutes here and there. So. sucked. in.
But first, BOOKS!
WHAT WE READ...
CARRIE BETH
My mother-in-law gave me a book that my sister-in-law had given her and told me I had to read it. Behind Closed Doors by B.A. Paris sort of sounded like a similar story to The Last Mrs. Parish that I loved so much, but my mother-in-law said it was even better! Okay, I've made it half way through and had to put it down. Partly because of life (hello end of the school year chaos!), and partly maybe subject matter? Have you read it? What were your thoughts? Should I finish it?

This month I read three books. Most of which were read on our Spring Break trip somewhere between the lights out at 8:30p.m. in a hotel room with all three kids, and being kicked awake approximately 3,456,762 times.
Two of the books were winners. One was so so.
First up for the month was The Spring Girls. This was one of those pretty cover purchases I tend to do. It was cold. It was rainy. I was craving Spring and this cover just gave it to me. The book declares it's a modern-day retelling of Little Women. It places the four infamous sisters on a military base, and the story maintains pretty much what it advertised - a modern-day retelling of the classic novel. The story was okay, but I just couldn't get into it. By the time I finished it, I was ready to say goodbye once again to the March family.
The next book up was The Couple Next Door. This book was SO GOOD! It might be another favorite of the year. It reminds me a little bit of The Last Mrs. Parrish, which has been one of my favorites for the year so far. I raved about it, Carrie Beth raved about it, and I would say The Couple Next Door ranks right up there. The story follows a couple who seem to have it all and their little baby Cora. The couple attends a dinner party and then everything in their life turns upside down. Each page held a new secret, a crazy twist, and every single time I thought I had it figured out I was quickly proven wrong. If you love edge of your seat reads (but without all the gore), this book totally needs to be on your radar!
As She Fades was the last book I was able to squeak in for April. Someone suggested this to me and said it's similar to the Taylor Jekins Reid novels we love so much. I think the book is actually geared more toward the Young Adult category, but it was so so good! The story follows a high school couple. On their graduation night they get in a terrible car accident that leaves one of them in a coma, and the other one with a few tough choices. Throw in a love triangle and an interesting twist in the back half of the book, and I was so sucked in. Just like Taylor Jenkins Reid novels, there are some crazy twists that make you wonder. I loved it and if you favor her novels or Colleen Hover novels totally put this one on your "to read" list ASAP.
WHAT'S UP NEXT...

Reading has been tabled for now. The end of the school year craziness has started and while I want to read there are other mom life responsibilities that are taking over my life right now. Maybe if I was able to get sucked into something I could really love? Have any great suggestions?? Otherwise...bring on summer and this mom will be all about the reading. And sleeping in. And forgetting that lunch boxes, PTA, sports tryouts, end of school reports...even exist for two whole months!

For the second month in a row I have nothing in the pipeline. GAH! So unlike me. Long gone are the days I can leisurely browse the Target book aisle or skim through my Kindle suggestions. Read: The days I was allocated approximately five minutes before one of my little people realized my attention wasn't solely on them. Ah, those were the good old days. Now I get approximately .34 seconds, and then all you know what breaks loose. #toddlers
So give me all your suggestions! I need something G - O - O - D!
