Montana Trip - Part 1

Last week, the hubs and I had an opportunity to go on an amazing trip to Montana, just the two of us, for 5 whole days!!!  It's hard preparing for being gone away from the kids that long, but I knew they were in great hands and I knew we would have a wonderful time away.  I'm going to be sharing all about our trip this week in a few different posts.

When we arrived in Montana my good spirits were a little crushed just a little when I realized my checked bag was no where to be found.  The airline was showing it had arrived, but no one seemed to be able to tell me where it was.  I wanted to cry right then and there, but I held it together and listened as they told me they were sure it would show up soon.

Just to be on the safe side, our shuttle driver made a quick stop by Target so I could run in and grab a few essentials to get me through the next few days just in case it didn't show up.  I think that might have been the one and only time my husband kept asking me if there was anything else I needed while I was filling up the cart at one of my favorite places. :-)

After our Target pit stop, we were off to the ranch, which was about an hour drive from the airport.  That drive included some amazing views...

This trip is especially fun because we got to try out all sorts of things we wouldn't normally do.  There are tons of activities to choose from like dog sledding, ice fishing, and zip lining.  We went on this same trip last year, so this year we decided to pick activities we hadn't tried before.  The first thing we tried was the side-by-side ATV tour.  We had a driver taking a group of us around the ranch and we got to go through snow, some streams, and lots of countryside.

I got a little motion sickness on the ride...something that never bothered me before pregnancy, but now I do get motion sickness from time to time...but it was totally worth it to see these great views.

Later that afternoon we spent some time exploring the little town part of the ranch.  It's set up just like the Wild West and is the neatest place ever.  All of these old buildings make up the town and have been transformed into hotel rooms, dinning areas, etc.

The insides of all the buildings are really decorated in time-period decor.  Everything is very Wild West and has the country ranch feel.  There is not one detail overlooked!

We spent a lot of time in front of this giant fire place and it was the perfect spot to relax after a busy day of activities or to hang out before dinner.

I'm happy to report that we woke up the next morning to find that my bag had arrived during the night!  I have never been so happy to see my "stuff."  I know it could have all been replaced, but there is something about your own belongings that gives you comfort and brought me so much JOY that morning.  I have certainly learned my lesson and will NEVER pack all of my stuff in one bag again.  #lessonlearned

Check back on Wednesday to read more about our trip and see lots of pictures from the other adventures we had!
