Happy Monday! It's time for another post in our Mix & Mingle series and there is a special offer for our blog readers so be sure to read to the bottom of this post for information on how to take advantage of the offer!
Today we are going to share one of our newest favorite little shops located at The Avenue at East Cobb - Olea Oliva! This is a gourmet spice, olive oil and balsamic vinegar tap room and it is unlike anything we had ever experienced!
Smita and Dilip Daya are the proud owners of Olea Oliva! and they are just delightful.
From the moment you walk through the doors they welcome you and are ready to share their wealth of knowledge. They have spent almost 30 years traveling world wide and learning about oils and spices. Each of their home-cooked meals incorporate different oils and spices and they are constantly creating new dishes with exciting flavors.
Stepping through the doors makes you feel like you just entered an Italian cafe. From the inviting sights to the amazing aromas, your senses are in for a thrill as you smell, taste and experience all they have to offer.
They are extremely passionate about sharing their expertise with customers, as well as friends. From cooking tips using different species to the various health benefits of oils, they have something to share with everyone and their passion is really community awareness and involvement.
To us, that is what really sets Olea Oliva! apart from the rest. Not only are they wonderful with suggesting pairings that go well together, but they can also guide you on ways to create flavorful, healthy meals that taste great and they even have a Paleo diet blend for spices. Whether you are a novice cook, a mom trying to break out of the mundane cooking schedule, or an experienced gourmet chef, they can certainly share something with you! Their website is also a great place to go to find recipes and guides to flavoring with spices.
We learned a great deal on our visit and had fun exploring it all! Upon entering we were invited to taste and compare as much as we would like. Have you ever tasted olive oil and compared the many fused, infused, and favored options? It's similar to a wine tasting, but with oils.
Imagine doing a shot of oil! It takes a little getting used to and it was certainly a new experience for us, but as we went along tasting different flavors we learned to really know what we were looking for and what our tastebuds loved.
Their oils are sourced directly from small farms around the world, assuring that you will receive the very best quality. Everything is bottled on-site, so it is, without a doubt, the incredibly fresh!
One of the real surprises for us were the flavored balsamic vinegars. We tasted a delicious salad with amazing flavors.
And, in our minds we had thought of the savory flavors for vinegars, but never the sweet ones offered by Olea Oliva!.
We tasted Chocolate balsamic and Coconut balsamic vinegars atop a fresh fruit salad and it was absolutely delicious!
Topping fruits, pancakes, adding splashes to soda water were just a few of the endless suggestions we were given during our tasting and it made us so excited to go home and start trying our hand and all sorts of different combinations. The possibilities and combinations are really endless!
One thing we think that is just so much fun are the events they host. From cooking lessons to how-tos to neighborhood gatherings and information sessions, there is something for everyone and a ton of knowledge to be shared. You can stay up-to-date with all that they offer on their events section of their website.
We can't urge you enough to stop in and check out this taproom for yourselves. We can promise you won't be disappointed! If you are local and can pop in to say hi, be sure to tell them you learned about their shop on our blog and you will receive one free 60 mL bottle of your choice of olive oil or vinegar with a $25 purchase.
If you aren't local, no worries! You can order online through their site. Enter code MAGNOLIAMAMAS to receive a 10% discount online.
Both of these deals are good for one month, from June 6 - July 6 so hurry in or hope online soon!
