7 Home Decor Trends for Spring We Love {And a Giveaway!!!}

We are so excited Spring is officially here! We couldn't wait to switch out our home decor and do a little spring sprucing up. We popped into one of our favorite local shops, Findlay Rowe, and chatted with the lovely ladies behind the scenes about the latest trends for home decor this spring.

First, their shop is filled with all sorts of gorgeousness. From wall to wall you can't take your eye off their amazing gifts, fabulous selection of jewelry and boutique clothing, and array of entertaining pieces. This time we came with a mission though, and had to ignore all the sparkling new baubles they've got on display and made our way straight to the home decor section.

The ladies were kind enough to walk us through all the latest trends, and give us advice on how to style different pieces. One of our favorite parts of their store is this Dough Bowl Bar. You know we love a good Dough Bowl!

We love that they have everything you need to help style your dough bowl for any holiday, but their spring selection is on point. And they told us that they have a deal where you can get a dough bowl and all the filler you can fit in it for $100! If you're local, run there now!

Once we could stop swooning, and realized we can't in fact purchase the whole store without threat of divorce from our husbands, we made our way home with some amazing items we can't wait to include in our homes this spring, and with some amazing advice from the ladies.

7 HOME DECOR TRENDS FOR SPRING 

Pops of Green
Neutral colors are still reigning strong, but for Spring add in simple touches of green. Throw in a spring of greenery in your dough bowl, add a springy garland to your mantle, or add fun prints with accents of green in them.

Simple Ceramics
Simple ceramics are a huge trend in home decor. Mixing in these lovely wide vases and elegant platters to your every day decor instantly brightens your home. To take it a step further add in a little bunch of branches or sprig of greenery of your choice.

Mix in Metals 
From home decor to entertaining pieces copper and tin is everywhere! With a nod to this farmhouse inspired trend, work in a touch of metal here and there, and you instantly update your home for the latest in spring decor.

Farmer's Market Leftovers
The "old is new" trend has been going strong for a few years now (and is one we fully endorse!), but for spring it's picking up even more steam. From using old wooden crates to hold shoes in your mudroom, to vintage wicker baskets stacked up for use as a bedside table, to recovering that old wingback chair, all you have to do to update your home for spring is to look no further than your grandmother's attic.

Natural Centerpieces
Spring is when everything is blooming so bring some of that outdoors inside, but with greenery and natural pieces that will last.  Natural centerpieces with cotton, greenery sprigs, moss and faux flowers are the perfect way to add some spring texture to your home.

Scents of Spring
What better way to update your home for spring than to bring the scents of spring straight into your home. A huge trend this spring is the addition of soy based candles with light and airy scents. Joanna Gaines has a delicious smelling line, and we love these tin encased candles from Elven Point.

Simple Signs 
One sure way to add farmhouse style to your home this spring is with simple signs.  From wooden letter boards and chalk boards you can switch out with different sayings...

...to printed signs framed in distressed wood.  We love them all!

What's in our Easter Baskets 2018

Easter is a little over a week away, and we can't even believe it. It totally snuck up on us this year! We feel so behind! Anyone else? We can't be the only ones?!

We put ourselves in Easter overdrive this week to get prepped, and have been consulting the Easter Bunny on what will be arriving in our baskets.

While we love a good holiday, we try not to go too overboard with the Easter baskets.  Because let's be honest, Christmas was like just yesterday, and our kids have way more than they will ever need.  But we've listened and observed to get ideas about little things here and there that the kids might like in their baskets.

Here are some of the things we know will be making it into our baskets this year mixed in with what we know are tried and true favorites for each age group.

WHAT'S IN OUR EASTER BASKETS...

TWEENS

• Make-up and accessories - Girls this age love primping with age appropriate make-up like lipgloss and some blush or highlighter.  Our girls also love scented lotions, sports headbands or fun hair bands. 

• Sunglasses - Sunny spring weather has to be just around the corner.  Get them prepared with some fun sunnies.  We love the mirrored ones and these heart shaped ones are super fun, too!

• Squishies!!!  - This is a trend we don't know that we'll ever understand, but these cute little shaped pieces of memory foam called squishes are one of the hottest trends right now.  Kids like to squeeze and squish them and watch the slow rising foam take it's shape again.  This is the perfect thing for an Easter basket, and something Tweens will definitely be excited about!

• Water bottles - New water bottles they can take to school or sports are the perfect addition to Easter baskets.  Simply Southern Tervis' with non-leak lids are some of our favorites because of their cute designs and of course we are partial to Swell bottles after Little Mama's winning Science Fair project. 

ELEMENTARY AGE

• Slime Making Kits - We might be over the slime fad, but our kids are still going strong.  We prefer these slime making kits because we feel like it is less mess and easier to get the consistency right. Our kiddos will be over the moon with some new slime stuff. 

• Goggles - Summer will be here before you know it.  We spent lots and lots of time at the pool so usually start off with new goggles each year and the Easter Basket is a perfect place to work those in.  We like these cute designs that add a little flair to traditional goggles. 

• Pool Toys - Along the same line as goggles, new pool toys are always a safe bet for baskets. Anything from dive sticks, water balls or squirt toys make going to the pool more fun and stocking up on them now for basket fillers means you'll be ready for that first splash! 

• DVD's - Anyone else's kids love watching movies?  There are so fun new releases out right now that we plan ago stick in our baskets.  Cars 3, Ferdinand and Coco are some we know our kids are going to love watching! 

PRESCHOOLERS

• Books - Years ago we shared our favorite Easter books and it's still one of our favorite ways to fill a basket. This year we are adding Little Blue Truck's Springtime. (Our kids LOVE the Little Blue Truck series!) 

• Art Supplies - Playdough, coloring/painting supplies (we love these mess free ones!!), pretty much anything that let's them use those fine motors and sensory skills! 

•  Flip Flops - Pool season is just around the corner for us, and we love adding inexpensive flip flops to their Easter baskets! Between swim lessons, the beach, and the pool flip flops are a way of life in our homes. Our favorites are from Old Navy and Target. Both have such cute selections! 

• Mini Lego Packs - Our kids are Lego obsessed, but this young age can get over whelmed with tons of pieces. These little mini Lego packs are the perfect size!

BABIES & TODDLERS

• Stuffed Animals - This is a given. It's like Easter tradition to put an adorable stuffed little bunny in the Easter baskets of young babies and toddlers. Our go-to favorite are the classic Jelly Cat stuffed animals. There are so many cute options to choose from, and while we've done the bunny multiple times over the years, we've mixed it up just as many too! In fact, one of ours still sleeps with his JellyCat puppy every single night. 

• Books - Perfect for this age group too! We always give the youngest ones these sweet little board books (they make them laugh so much!), and a fun little mini-Bible or prayer book. 

• Baby's First Shoes - Or any little shoes. This was a small and easy filler to put in our babies Easter baskets. Especially when we needed something useful to fill the basket with for show when there were older siblings. Our favorite little shoes to use were the soft soled shoes by Robeez. Freshly Picked makes some adorable ones too!

• Non-Candy Treats - For babies we used to always put the Mum Mum rice biscuits in their basket and then would fill their eggs with baby puffs. For toddlers we would put fun stickers or bubbles in their eggs, and as their treat we would use bars, pouches, or Annie's Fruit Snacks or Bunny Grahams. Because they were already shaped like bunnies and you know we love a good theme!

Braves Spring Training Trip {Part 2}

If you missed Part 1 of our quick Braves Spring Training trip post, you can find it here.

We were able to sleep in a bit on Saturday before getting ready to head over to the ESPN Wild World of Sports for the Braves game. It was St. Patrick's Day, so we all had green Braves hats to wear for the day.  Before the game we were lucky enough to attend an autograph session with a lot of the players and my little baseball loving guy was in heaven.

Especially when he saw some of the big names like Ender Inciarte who he has a bobblehead of in his baseball room!

Then he spent a little time watching batting practice and warmups before the game started hoping someone would toss a ball up to him.

We got wind that another group of players were going to be coming to autograph, including his favorite, Freddie Freeman!  He was so excited and nervous to meet him, but wanted to say "hey Freddie."  Freddie Freeman was so nice to him and when I asked if I could take a picture he was so kind of said, "Of course!" His day was made right then and there.

It was a beautiful day for baseball and while watching the kids enjoyed ice cream, popsicles and just about every other ball park snack they could get their hands on.

After the game we took the shuttle over to Universal Studios!

We had a few hours to ride some of the rides and planned our time there strategically. We had a limited about of time and wanted to ride the ones they would enjoy the most.

Our kids love the thrill rides. Transformers was super fun, they enjoyed the Men in Black ride, but their very favorite was the Revenge of the Mummy because it was basically an indoor roller coaster.

We grabbed a quick dinner and then it was time for the main event of the evening...the Mardi Gras Parade.  Now, last year Boo-Boo was too short to actually be in the parade so we took part as spectators and you would have thought we were in New Orleans.

They had the best time collecting beads from the parade and enjoyed it so much that I was a little nervous to be on the other side of things. However, so many people we talked to who rode on the floats last year said throwing the beads was so much fun so we decided to give it a whirl.  We got costumes on, were given our instructions, and were ready to go.

I have no pictures from the parade because it went by so fast.  Literally every second we were tossing beads to crazy people who thought they were in New Orleans and having the time of our lives. It was so much fun and neat to see it from the other side.

We went through tons of beads, but there were enough left for the kids to get some to take home.  While waiting on our shuttle though, this kind hearted boy decided to pass some beads out to other people who didn't get any. So when someone would walk by he asked if they wanted some beads. He also gave some to our shuttle driver and you could tell it just made his day.

We all crashed that evening and were up early the next day to get ready to fly back home.  It was a quick trip, but packed full of fun!

Braves Spring Training Trip {Part 1}

For the past 4 years now, my family has gone to Orlando for a Braves Spring Training weekend and had a blast.  It is always one of our favorite weekend getaways and just so much fun.  They pack in so much to this weekend and it is always a busy schedule, but worth it for the amazing experience and this year was no different.

We flew out first thing on Friday morning and arrived in sunny Florida with most of the day still ahead of us.  

After dropping our bags at the hotel and doing a quick wardrobe change (yea for shorts weather!!!), we were off to the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

We love going to the Masters each year and although I don't really follow golf, I always love being outdoors on the beautiful courses, people watching, and seeing some of the big names.  We thought the kids would enjoy their first golf tournament on a little smaller scale and they did...for about 20 minutes.  

And it was then that we quickly realized why we have never taken them to the Masters.

My little guy said the hardest part was staying behind the rope. I can see what he meant though...all of that lush green grass just makes you want to go run around on it.  Blondie just wanted to sit down and Little Mama was entertained for a while, but then bored.  We decided they would have more fun playing golf than watching it, but it was a beautiful day and it was something fun and different for us to do.

We did a little shopping in the pro shop, let them try putting at one of the vendor tents and then stuck around to watch Tiger Woods come through and then decided to head back to the hotel to rest before the evening's welcome party.  

This little guy was just done and passed out as soon as we got in the car.  He stayed that way while we were waiting on our room and it was just the power nap he needed.

After a quick little rest for all of us, we got changed and ready for the welcome party.  I was excited to wear my new dress for the occasion.  I picked this up a few weeks ago and knew it would be perfect for cool spring nights with a denim jacket and into summer by itself.  (It's on sale for less than $25 right now...such a great deal!)

This event is always so much fun and the Braves do a great job making it a great night for parents and kids.  The decorations are so fitting to the theme of the weekend and the food is amazing (hello lobster tails and funnel cake fries with chocolate sauce). 

There are a ton of activities and games for the kids like a balloon artist, charicature artists, photo booths and an amazing DJ that gets them all up and having a good time.  

After having about all the fun we could handle for one day, we called it a night and got some sleep so we would be ready for another fun-filled day!
