Happy Birthday to ME!!!

On Tuesday I celebrated my 34th birthday.  I'm pretty sure that pushes me to the "mid-thirty" age range now, but I'm still claiming "early-thirties" until next year when I'm definitely at the mid-range.

On Sunday evening we celebrated with my in-laws and they cooked a wonderful dinner and had ice cream cake for dessert!

Gigi gave me this card and I literally laughed out loud when I read it.

It's funny because it's true.

Tuesday, my actual birthday, was a really great day and quite possibly the best part about my day was not having to wake up to my alarm.  I got a glorious extra 50 minutes of sleep. Never mind the two times I was up with either a kid or our puppy during the night, but those 50 extra morning minutes were wonderful.  The girls were off school since my birthday fell on an election day this year.  Lucky me!

After taking the kids to get their flu shots and doing some things around the house, we were off to meet Jen and her kiddos at our favorite little bakery.  We used to live close by so I would go ALL of the time.  It isn't quite as convenient anymore, so I don't make it there nearly as often as I would like.

Little Mama wanted to dress like me on my birthday, so she put on her scarf for the day, too!
The deli sandwiches on buttery croissants are delish, the sweet tea is probably my all time favorite, the cheese straws rival those my Memaw used to make and there are cases upon cases of sweet treats.  Since it was my birthday I picked my favorite cupcake combo...yellow cake with chocolate frosting.

It was crowded in the bakery due to election day and more people being out and about.  We were also there with 5 kids and that is enough to make any meal pretty hectic.  But, I wouldn't have had it any other way or spent my birthday lunch with any other friend.  Love her!

And, can we all just take a moment and admire Jen's hair.  She has the BEST hair.  She gets comments on it all the time from people telling her she has great pageant hair, supermodel hair, perfect big curls, and on and on.  It really is true though and I'm trying to convince her to do a tutorial here on the blog.  I know I could use it because every time I try to curl my hair I would like to think it looks as fabulous as hers, but it never does. Funny story - at lunch, one of the employees came up to Jen and was idolizing her hair.  She asked for a tutorial right there in the middle of the bakery and Jen, being the sweet person she is, went step by step to explain and demonstrate how she gets those perfect curls.  I should have taken a picture, but I was laughing too hard.

The rest of the day was spent taking the girls to dance class, just like any other normal Tuesday.  I had hoped to go out for a birthday dinner, but I knew that would probably have to wait until the weekend, so my dinner consisted of wine and the cheese straws we brought home from the bakery.  It was pretty good though so no complaining here!

My day ended on a very happy note when I got to open my gift from my hubby and kids.

The Michael Kors watch I've been wanting for years now!!!  Ending the day with some birthday bling made me a very happy mama!
