Project Nursery: Almost There

Well, I knew it was a gamble, but 3.0 most definitely arrived before her room was completed. And the funny thing is...I'm okay with that.

I am loving how it has turned out so far, and for the most part we are finished minus a few small details. Once the room is officially complete I will take real photographs (a.k.a. not quick snapshots from my cell phone), and show it to you in all its girly gorgeousness. For now though I will bring you up to speed on what we completed the few weeks leading up to 3.0's arrival.

Choosing a paint color was tough! I didn't realize just how many shades of gray there actually were out there! I mentioned this on Instagram, and tons of you had great suggestions that helped narrow it down. After much debate we ended up going with Gray Screen by Sherwin Williams.

While I was making my eyeballs crossed looking at the ultimate 50 shades of gray, Mr. Cute was finishing up the wall trim and bookshelves.

In one day he was able to knock out the shelving, paint, and put together our furniture that finally arrived. By that evening it actually looked like a nursery.

And since that evening happened to be only two days before 3.0 arrived it was a good thing that the moment Mr. Cute gave me the all clear, I came right in and was able to put away her clothes and get everything ready. Gotta love pregnant nesting!

I absolutely love the ruffle bumper and the crib skirt that I found once I actually paired it with the furniture, but I noticed the room had a ton of grey. I was going to do some grey elephant sheets I had found, but then decided to throw in some more pink.

I found these pink striped sheets and they are perfect! They seriously are the softest thing I have ever felt and I loved how the stripes play into the seersucker look I am trying to mix in.

At the shower Carrie Beth threw me last month, my girlfriends had given me a ton of super cute coordinated accessories for her room, and CB had wrapped my gift in this cute grey striped organizer bin. I love dual purpose wrapping, and the bins ended up being the perfect size for the shelves.

I went and picked up a few more of the grey as well as some of the pink ones, including this fun taller one for larger toys, just to add a little more pink to the room. It will be so nice to have organized storage ready to go once one the shelves are finished and installed for good.

Don't you love when your kids take super flattering pics of you?

Cute is taking on my photographers gene, and loves grabbing my phone and taking snapshots whenever he can. I brought The Cutes with me to pick up our glider and he grabbed this little gem of me. I title this photo "Pondering & Stressed". I was trying to discuss with the sales guy our options since the chair I originally wanted was still 8-10 weeks from arrival and at this point I wasn't sure if I had 8 to 10 more hours left to go, and any nursing mom knows a good glider can make or break night time feedings.

He also snapped this photo of these unsuspecting shoppers making life altering baby furniture purchases. Clearly he was quite inspired by Buy Buy Baby.

And his pizza dinner afterward. Because nothing says inspirational like cheesy NY style pizza.
I am so proud.

The chair I ended up picking, I was able to actually bring home that day. They randomly had one in stock and because I drive a large SUV, I was able to get the salesman to load it up in my trunk without even a worry.

I love it, and it has most definitely already been put to good use.

I think I love that it is a little more petite than the chair we purchased for The Cutes. 3.0's room is the smallest guest room we have in our home, so a larger chair would have been a problem as she grew older, but now even when her crib is converted it will fit nicely in the corner for her still.

Of our original list there is not much left to knock out. Over the next weekend or so we should be finished completely and then 3.0's little space in our home will be complete.

Project Nursery: Furniture & Progress

The countdown is on! We are getting closer to baby 3.0's arrival and we have been working on her nursery like crazy, but she quite possibly might arrive before everything is finished. Eek!

Before the holidays, we got down to business and really began to concentrate on bringing "my vision" to life. We spent a few hours furniture shopping one afternoon, and quickly agreed on something we both liked. By the time you get to number three it's amazing how quickly this process gets streamlined. We ordered the Hanley line from Westwood Furniture in the color Cloud.

We originally were told it was backordered until the end of February (which meant 3.0 was most definitely going to be furniture-less for a few weeks), but were pleasantly surprised when we received a call to tell us it arrived early. Wahoo!

Mr. Cute also got his carpentry skills on, and enlisted the help of my father in law to help do the new bead board, trim, and baseboards for the room.

Cute joined the project as head supervisor.

They worked through the better part of the day, and I love how it turned out! It gives the room a little something besides just that plain boxy look.

While the boys were building, I found some bedding that I liked. We are going with a grey/white/pink theme, and since the room is somewhat small I wanted something light and frilly. I had seen this seersucker style crib skirt paired with a ruffle bumper at Pottery Barn Kids. I love all things seersucker and knew it would be perfect! My plan is to have pink seersucker pillows made with her monogram to coordinate.

I lucked out when my mom and sister found the exact bedding I had on my wish list from PBK outlet for slightly less. I was so excited!

I was also pleasantly surprised when Mr. Cute found the most perfect shabby chic chandelier for her room! This wasn't a priority item on my list this late in the game, but I was am so excited to add this girly touch to it!

It goes with the theme perfectly, and has just enough bling to satisfy my southern loving heart.

Everything is coming together, and this week and upcoming weekend we plan on knocking out some of the larger items on the list. Mr Cute is working on the bookshelves he is building, I plan on narrowing down paint colors, and getting my mind around one of the more fun parts...organizing her closet! :)

Project Nursery: Inspiration

Life lately has been so full and busy, that I sat down this past weekend and realized, "Wait a minute...baby is due when?!?" That thought was quickly followed with, "Holy cow, we might need to start getting the baby a place to sleep...and maybe a onesie or two!"

I am still roughly three months out, but those three months are filled with holiday fun, birthday parties, and maybe a vacation or two. I know that the time is going to fly by and then boom! 3.0 will be riding home to nothing more than a blanket on the floor to sleep, the hospital onesie they give you, and - if  she's lucky - the correct sized diapers.

I'm joking. Sort of.

So this past weekend I made it my mission to sit down and plan out the nursery. Luckily it was a super low key weekend so we could really brainstorm on what we want her room to look like.

Layout wise, her room is identical to Little Cute's so we are able to get a feel for what might fit in furniture wise and where we might be able to add a little oomph to the plain boxy feel. I drew out an idea, and instantly knew that's just the layout we are going for.

You like my vision. You totally see what gloriousness is about to go down in this amazing nursery right?

Listen, out of chaos comes beauty. Or so I tell myself. Luckily, Mr. Cute knows me well enough by now (and has seen many of these awesome drawings of my "visions" in his lifetime) that he knows what he needs to do.

Beyond that I am a little at a loss. I know kind of what color scheme I want to do, but then I venture onto this handy little place on the internet called Pinterest, and I see so many adorable things I could make twenty nurseries over. Help me - it's just all too cute!

Here's what I know I want...

3.0 NURSERY CHECKLIST
- Somewhat neutral in color, but not afraid of color pops.
(L.C.'s room is Lilly Pulitzer themed, and while super adorable it is definitely bright!)

- A fun girly chandelier!!!

- A large monogram.

- Some sort of built-ins and wall trim to break up the boxy feel.

- A comfy glider.

- A closet shelving makeover.
(Goodbye single wire shelf that builders tend to love to install. Buh-bye!)

- A theme?

- Furniture that is functional not only as a newborn, but grows with her.

Here are some of my favorites I found on Pinterest...

This! This is just too adorable! It's sweet, neutral and and is girly in every way...

Grey maybe...the darker tone would be a little different, but love how it's still girly. And hello - chandelier...

{Source}

Ohhh, or this? Love that sweet floral wall paper and subtle pops of color...

{Source}
I know I said nothing too bright, but I might have to change my mind. How cute is this? And it somewhat coordinates with L.C.'s colors. Hmm...

{Source}
Wait a minute...or this?!? Color rule might definitely have to go out the window...
{Source}
Oh my! Now that we've established the new color rule...This is perfection! Not only do I love the wall trim, but it would match L.C.'s room, and let's be honest - ruffles. Ruffles will always get me!

{Source}
But wait...I love this too! That wall shelving. The chandelier!

{Source}
Okay, now I am swooning! This room is perfection! I want this to be my room...

See! How does one choose?!?

Which nursery is your favorite?
