Friday Favorites {Workout Style}

Yay! Friday is finally here! Wahoo! Today we are linking up again with A Little Bit of Everything for some Friday Favorites.

Today I thought I would share some of my new workout favorites.

FAVORITE #1: Sunshine
First up...the sun! Hi sun, we've missed you! Down here in the deep south it has been nothing but rain, rain, cold and rain. This week the sun came out and with it we enjoyed several glorious days in the mid-sixties. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord and the little baby Jesus! I live in the South for a reason, and that reason is to be warm.

It was so nice to mostly walk run outside for a change instead of pounding my feet on the tread mill. Wearing only one layer was so nice, and being able to bring the kids in the jogging stroller with out complaints was glorious. The sun is my favorite, and it can most definitely be at the top of the this week's list.

Speaking of layers, since I have been running more lately, I have realized quickly I have some go-to favorites for my workout attire, and thought I would share some of them with you. Trust me, as a stay at home mommy I know a thing or two about leggings and yoga pants. Nike should hire me as a quality control tester.

FAVORITE #2: Running Spanx Compression Leggings
Running Spanx Compression leggings are usually what I will grab first for a run. I am sure there is a whole lot of technology and reasoning behind why you should wear compression gear while you work out, but I choose to wear them because they keep my jiggles and wiggles to a minimum. Listen, ten years ago I happily frolicked across campus for five miles in nothing but my sports bra and some Soffee shorts, but fast forward a few years and add two children later, and I like having a little more coverage/control while jogging through the neighborhood. This milkshake doesn't need any more boys in the yard.

These Nike leggings have become a fast favorite. They have a built in lining to them so they have been nice during the cold winter days. They are tight enough that they stay in place, but are comfortable enough that they don't feel restricting. To me nothing is worse than having to keep pulling up your waist or adjusting your clothing while running.

Another new favorite are these compression leggings from Old Navy. I have a black pair I purchased last year and have adored, but the new patterned ones they've come out with are so fun! They are comfortable and also won't break the bank. I have them in the White/Black print (see above), as well as the Carbon and Cement prints. Old Navy also makes an awesome capri version in the same patterns, as well as a maternity version

FAVORITE #3: Tees
I am a t-shirt girl at heart. There is nothing I love more than getting comfortable in a soft comfy tee. I still own some t-shirts from high school because they've finally reached that soft vintage feeling. My favorite new t-shirts to work out in have been Victoria's Secret vintage tees. I discovered them when  I was Christmas shopping over the holidays and instantly fell in love.

This week I've sported this long sleeve version, and a fun leopard print short sleeve version since it has been so warm. Both have been great to work out in since they are light weight, and I love the length. They are tunic length so the they cover my hiney and my lady parts, which is always a win.

And if you noticed, still rocking the FitBit. I still am still loving it, and am still ignoring the calorie tracker. Consistency is key right?

FAVORITE #4: New Music
Before each run I like to set a new play list of fun songs so I don't have to worry about trying to skip anything I am not feeling during the run. I love a little bit of everything when it comes to music, but usually lean towards music that is fast paced and upbeat for running. Here are some new favorites I have been enjoying though:

1. Taylor Swift - Bad Blood
(Honestly anything by her has been great lately, but I can't seem to stop
playing Bad Blood over and over.)

2. Hunger Games Soundtrack - The Hanging Tree (Rebel Remix)

3. Hozier - Take Me to Church

4. Jeremih - Don't Tell 'Em
(Mama tends to like a little base.)

5. Fall Out Boy - Centuries

6. Maroon 5 - Animals

That concludes my favorites for the week. Do you guys have any new workout favorites? Please share! I am always looking for new inspiration to keep me motivated and comfortable!

Happy weekend everyone!

    1. Thanks for reading Cara! Old Navy over all is definitely a favorite. I have tried Under Armour, Nike, Target's C9, Danskin, etc., and their workout clothes are definitely the most bang for your buck!
