Celebrating Opening Day

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! We kicked ours off right. Friday marked what is almost considered to be a holiday in our house...opening day for the Atlanta Braves. Wahoo! We  are season ticket holders with some of our best friends and look forward to this day each year.

Really there isn't a better way to celebrate the start of opening day than with Krispy Kremes, is there?

We were a little nervous when we woke up and saw that it was raining. The forecast wasn't looking very pretty, but we are die hard and weren't about to miss opening day. Late afternoon, Cute and I made our way down to the stadium with our friends (Little Cute was hanging out with Aunt C, and Mr. Cute was wrapping up his week attending The Masters Tournament), and the weather miraculously was looking pretty good. Dare I say I even saw some sun poking through.

Opening day is always so fun, and in the plaza there was a fun band playing and tons of excited fans.

Cute decided to make a bid or two at the Braves Foundation booth. Apparently, he has a side job somewhere that I don't know about because he proceeded to "write" down his name for "this awesome baseball man". Also known as a $500 signed photo of Jason Heyward. Good luck buddy.

We made our way to club level where our seats were, and just as we were ordering our slices of pizza, the sky opened up and the bottom fell out. Like non-stop end of the world kind of rain. Boo! Didn't mother nature know we had a team to cheer for?

We explored the stadium a little bit, found our favorite Braves employee (Hi Alex!), and made our way back to our seats. The view was still looking quite ominous and at 8:15p.m. we made the call to bring the littles home. Game time, if there was to be one, wouldn't be for awhile, and we were running out of ways to entertain a pack of tired boys.

Cute was not excited about the loud thunder.

Cute was majorly disappointed, and let everyone know about it. Let's just say it was a long, wet, LOUD walk back to the car.

All that screaming must have worn him out because before we even hit the highway this was my view. Poor little guy.

Mother Nature must have changed her mind because just about the time I pulled into the driveway, I heard the game began without a hitch and with nary a raindrop the rest of the night. The best part of all, the Braves won! They've been off to a fabulous start so here's hoping for a GREAT season!

The rest of the weekend we switched from baseball to watching another of our favorite sports, golf. Mr. Cute made it home late Friday night and we watched the Masters Tournament from the comfort of our own home, and cheered on Jordan Spieth. Azaleas included.

Talk about a yummy drink! If you are feeling a little thirsty here is the super easy recipe...

The Azalea (Serves 1)
2 parts Gin
1 part lemon or lime juice
1 part pineapple juice
a splash of grenadine

Shake and serve over ice. Enjoy!

Trust me, it's dangerously yummy. Hope everyone has a great start to their week, and Go Braves!

You'll have to let us know who your favorite team is...you know aside from the Braves. ;)
